Yes...the Aid to Dependent Children law was the worst thing ever to happen to black folks, AND, to a lesser extant white and Latino folks as well. The Law of Unintended Consequences can never be ignored.

I still see a deep vein of racist in Colin race baiting Powell. They always make sure to say he’s a Republican. He’s not. Wish someone could check to see what party he’s registered with.

“...voting places were only open two days a week for African Americans. So we’ve come a long way, but we still have a long way to go.”

Sohhhh, how many days a week, do you, need to vote?

You need more time?

You’re slow readers?

You can’t right well?

Yer illiterati?

Do they have to walk to the voting booth? Maybe, they should plan for that inconvenience?

He calls himself a Republican.

So, has he EVER said ANYTHING bad, at all, about the Democrats? He certainly has NO PROBLEM pointing out the flaws that he always seems to find with the Republicans - and calling himself a Republican at the same time - but has he EVER found fault with the Democrats?

I cannot think of anything beyond, maybe, something like “both parties are too much controlled by special interests”...not exactly a BLAZING ATTACK on the Democrats, but I don’t know of him ever going beyond that.

He was National Security Advisor to Reagan, not Joint Chiefs.

Powell’s skin tone was not very detrimental to his career considering that he was not a West Pointer.

Remember, to liberals..EVERYTHING is racist..Im shocked they don’t call hockey pucks racist

You’re only shocked because you are clearly too racist to see. 90% white guys slamming with sticks a helpless black entity. Hockey is racist.

Baseball and basketball are better because the ball is paler. Football - still ok because even though the ball is bown, most of the players are darker than it.

Colin Powell will go to his grave biting the hand that fed him. His entire esteemed career derives from preferential treatment based on his skin color. Yes, Colin, America sucks.

If he wasn’t black, he’d be a retired Lt. Colonel sitting on some bayou in Louisiana fishing everyday..continues to amaze me that these losers rise to the pinnacle of success riding affirmative action..and then bitch about it..

He admits he voted for Obama because of his skin color.

If you look for something with preconceived ideas you usually find it. If I were to think black people hate white people I will always be able to find examples that support my belief.

Those that have achieved much, who turn to pulling out the race card, show how shallow they actually have always been.

What’s next?

I blame Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty” which pretended concern for the poor in our country, when it really was a government handout and it discouraged intact families - so the fathers were shut out of the inner circle of the families.

It was much more insidious. It was a blatant vote buying scheme to entice black voters (Newly enfranchised due to the 24th amendment) to support Democrats, and it worked perfectly.

That it had horribly dire consequences for black families and for the federal budget itself, is just another aspect of the disaster that the "war on poverty" was.

The most damage it caused was by it's effects in getting Democrats elected. Pork barrel spending, and out of control entitlements were some of the consequences of that "War on Poverty" vote buying scheme.

I think voting should take place on 1 particular day set by the State legislator. If you can’t be bothered to show up then to vote you shouldn’t vote. Likewise if you can’t be bothered to learn something about those whom your voting for you probably shouldn’t vote.
To that end I would NOT allow party label to be placed on the ballot.

As for reading, if you can’t read the ballot your probably already out of luck as your only other choice is to rely upon someone else to tell you the truth about what it says.

My concern is the poll tax thou, I honestly think its not right that people who have no financial stake in a community or have otherwise payed no taxes should be able to wield political power in that community.
I think if you can’t produce a receipt or a tax form you should have to pay a tax to demonstrate you’ve been liable for the money political leaders have spent.

Yeah I see a dark vein of racism, only it’s democrats who see nothing but skin color, judge by skin color, create government handouts based on skin color, lower standards of employment based on skin color, etc... Just let them be free and equal already, and contribute to society.
