President Obama only learned of Hillary Clinton's private email address use for official State Department business after a New York Times report, he told CBS News in an interview.
CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante asked Mr. Obama when he learned about her private email system after his Saturday appearance in Selma, Alabama.
"The same time everybody else learned it through news reports," the president told Plante.
Mr. Obama's comments follow a long week of media scrutiny surrounding Hillary Clinton's private email address and the "home-brewed" server that hosted it.
"The policy of my administration is to encourage transparency, which is why my emails, the BlackBerry I carry around, all those records are available and archived," Mr. Obama said. "I'm glad that Hillary's instructed that those emails about official business need to be disclosed."
Despite widespread criticism from Republicans who believe Clinton acted inappropriately, the president continued to defend his former Cabinet member's record.
"Let me just say that Hillary Clinton is and has been an outstanding public servant. She was a great secretary of state for me," Mr. Obama said.

Congressional Republicans asked the Obama administration on Friday for a list of White House staffers’ personal email addresses used to conduct government business — and copies of messages sent from those accounts — amid new scrutiny of presidential aides’ use of non-official accounts.
“The American people have a right to know that White House staff and federal officials are conducting the business of the government transparently and in accordance with record-keeping statutes,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, wrote in a Friday letter to White House chief of staff Jack Lew.

As the Smoking Gun and others have reported, a hacker calling himself (or herself) “Guccifer” claims to have compromised the email account of former Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal, revealing memos that Blumenthal purportedly wrote to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about Benghazi and other matters. What seems to have escaped notice is that Blumenthal, a fierce Clinton partisan in the 1990s, was the orchestrator of a subterranean smear campaign against Obama during the Democratic primary and was specifically spiked by the White House as a potential staffer for Clinton when she became Secretary of State. And he was sending notes to Clinton at a private, non-governmental email address. Did Obama know Clinton was consulting with the guy who tried to kneecap him?

If you think this is ridiculous, wait until you hear how it was Bush’s fault the he didn’t know what Hillary was up to.
Basically what it’s going to be is Bush learned sometime between 2002 and 2005 from the al Qaida documents recovered in Afghanistan that Hillary has been collaborating with the terrorist but Bush never told Obama.

Trey has a treasure trove of opportunity here. Is it a duty of anyone in the administration to report the use of non-governmenal eMail for official business? The official government archive should PROVE whether whether one of Hilliary’s eMails was received. It is a perfect GOTCHA situation.
