But, but, but...we have to protect you (’we’ being the gubmint):
No smoking in bars (in many States)
No guns in bars (in many States)
No gambling in bars (in all States I presume...they want you to play sanctioned games)
No unlicensed beer or spirits in bars (all States)
But we’ll be waiting for you when you stagger out of the bar and get in your car after engaging in consumption of highly-taxed beer & spirits and spending your paycheck on our licensed ‘games’, because now we have to protect the rest of the people from you. But we’ll offer you help for that gambling addiction after it’s wrought hell on your life, because we’re here to help.
And by the way, since we don’t permit you to carry guns in bars, we’ll be there to fill out the forms and investigate after whatever mayhem/fights/injuries/murders occurred in that designated gun-free zone, because we do paperwork really, really well. We excel at ‘reports’...

I’m not ‘20-something’ anymore, thus I have to ask the question: Why do people go to bars anymore and pay a premium for EVERYTHING, including massive penalties if you have too much to drink? (no testers in bars in my State...)
I just don’t get it.
(Yes, I intentionally avoided comment on the OP topic; bars we can change...we can’t change that idiot til next election)
(OOPs...commented anyway)
While I may think leaving firearms out of bars is probably a good idea, it’s still just part of the trade-off our founders made when they gave us the second amendment. A very wise decision, IMHO. But either way on that, it’s still therefore none of the govt’s business if someone carries a gun into a bar or not.
