The White House, State Department and Hillary Clintons personal office knew in August that House Republicans had received information showing that the former secretary of state conducted official government business through her private email account and Clintons staff made the decision to keep quiet.
Sources familiar with the discussions say key people in the Obama administration and on Clintons staff were aware that the revelation could be explosive for the all-but-announced candidate for president. But those involved deferred to Clintons aides, and they decided not to respond.
In the end, Clintons staff waited six months until after the New York Times published a story on Tuesday about the email account and the possibility that it hampered public access to official records to begin their response.
Clintons slow-off-the-block defense has left many political strategists and observers confused because even a presidential campaign in its early stages should have been prepared to get out ahead of bad news. Had the existence of the email address and private server been made public in August, they say, it could have become a marginal issue in the run-up to the midterm elections, which Democrats badly lost anyway and in which Clinton wasnt a candidate. But the decision to let it linger has meant it will cast a much larger shadow over Clintons expected campaign announcement.

Of which year? 2009?
Mighty inconvenient information for Election time.
Better to keep the serfs ignorant.
LOL!!
Yes. Obama knew of this from day one. Hell, he probably suggested it : )
“Obama knew of this from day one. Hell, he probably suggested it.”
He and his minions likely suggested it to HRC, and then leaked it later to undermine her.
The level of criminality and outright disrespect for this nations laws and constitution is without parallel in our entire history.
I see this exactly as you do : )
But it wasn’t politically expedient to leak that info before mid-term elections. Also, the disclosure hurts Hillary more right now. It’s getting late for a Hillary replacement candidate to enter the presidential race. This makes it easier for a left wing candidate to get the nomination.
If anyone in the administration had to send email to hitlery, they knew.
0bama: "It works for me."
Smell test failure
“The White House, State Department and Hillary Clintons personal office knew in August that House Republicans had received information showing that the former secretary of state conducted official government business through her private email account and Clintons staff made the decision to keep quiet.”
It would appear that House Republicans also made the same decision and further decided to do not a thing about it.

Hacker Begins Distributing Confidential Memos Sent To Hillary Clinton On Libya, Benghazi Attack
Armed with confidential memos to Hillary Clinton that were stolen from the e-mail account of a former White House aide, a hacker has distributed some of the documents to a wide array of congressional aides, political figures, and journalists worldwide.
(snip)
Most of the e-mail recipients were sent four separate memos that were e-mailed to Clinton by Blumenthal during the past five months. Each memo dealt with assorted developments in Libya, including the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi. One memo marked Confidential was sent to Clinton on September 12.
Blumenthals memos and e-mails to Clinton were sent to her at a non-governmental e-mail address through the web domain clintonemail.com.
(snip)
Like anyone in Congress will do anything about this.
Oops. So why were they waiting. ????? Doing a little surveillance to see if they could catch someone in the act?
I thought it was a hacker who exposed the situation highlighting the vulnerability. Any possibility the vulnerability was intentional to expose info to hacking by all those foreign donors to the Clinton library?
Quickly is looking like a prosecuting attorney should be acting not congress
I just naturally figured that barry is doing the same thing.
