Several Arab media reports indicate that Iran’s 76-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition after undergoing surgery for an advanced form of prostate cancer.

If the reports are true, and if Khamenei does not recover, then his death could trigger very significant changes in Iran’s policies.

Only if no 12er replaces him. Else business as usual. Or don’t hold your breath ...

Does that mean his little peepee hurts when he piddles? I’m so sorry. This must be very discouraging for his goat.

Iran is surprisingly progressive. They even allow the Ayatollah to have his comfort animal with him in the hospital.

I recall hearing how educated and western friendly the Iraqis would be without Saddam.

I remember when the old Soviet commies started to die off that the next one would be cool. “His clothes are from Seville Row and he likes scotch”.

the US State department has been looking for Iranian “moderates” since 1974

Oh no, we must not confront or pixx off Iran because it might damage “the moderates”

So we have sacrificed an untold number of American lives to this murderous regime and for 31 years they have continued to march over an American flag painted on their parade ground

horse phooey. It’s like the kid who gets a pile of horse manure for Christmas and keeps shoveling away, looking for the pony

Persia has been a thorn in the side of the West for over 2500 years. They simply can not be reasoned with. Attempted wars of conquest produced no lasting advantage in over 2 millenia. So this jackass's sucessor will do...what?

Strike hard tactically to keep them disarmed. Repeat as often as needed and without apology. Between attacks let them fester. They don't want to play ball.

What about the recent Green movement. The younger generation wanted to throw out the Theocracy. The US did nothing to assist them? Many Iranian (Persian)youth and those who have suffered under the Mullahs are very Western oriented. Just sayin......

I have no doubt that there are a large number of Iranians who would like to do away with the theocracy and deal openly with the West. How many in comparison with the Islamic authoritarians is the question. I’m also reminded that among the Sunni, ISIS is the choice among the youth and of a majority of the religious population.

The younger generation wanted to throw out the Theocracy.

That the previous younger generation put in. And the generation before that looked sane. There is just no consistency over the long pull.

The US did nothing to assist them?

So it seems. That would not have been my choice but we are stuck with Obama who has an affinity for Muslim bad guys.
