Several Arab media reports indicate that Irans 76-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition after undergoing surgery for an advanced form of prostate cancer.
If the reports are true, and if Khamenei does not recover, then his death could trigger very significant changes in Irans policies.

What about the recent Green movement. The younger generation wanted to throw out the Theocracy. The US did nothing to assist them? Many Iranian (Persian)youth and those who have suffered under the Mullahs are very Western oriented. Just sayin......

I have no doubt that there are a large number of Iranians who would like to do away with the theocracy and deal openly with the West. How many in comparison with the Islamic authoritarians is the question. I’m also reminded that among the Sunni, ISIS is the choice among the youth and of a majority of the religious population.
That the previous younger generation put in. And the generation before that looked sane. There is just no consistency over the long pull.

So it seems. That would not have been my choice but we are stuck with Obama who has an affinity for Muslim bad guys.
