A small plane piloted by Harrison Ford has crash-landed at an L.A. golf course ... but we're told the actor has survived. TMZ has learned ... Ford was piloting what appears to be a vintage 2-seater fighter plane Thursday ... when something went wrong and he crashed into Penmar golf course in Venice, CA. We're told Ford suffered multiple gashes to his head and was bleeding. Two doctors who happened to be at the golf course rushed over to treat the actor. Emergency personnel arrived to the scene a short time later. He may be very experienced....but sometimes that gets overridden

Scott Crossfield was a lot better than Harrison, but circumstances eventually caught up with him.

Not sure if it means anything but Drudge changed headline from “serious” to “critical” although theTMZ article hasn’t changed original status. Maybe Matt is going for drama or has some newer info??

Agree, my Father in law started in Stearman’s. If he had learned on PT-22s he probably would have never survived to lead the entire 8AF on several missions dedicated to the Urban Renewal of the 3d Reich. Lufwaffe Air Defense was no match for the PT-22.

That is not an immovable structure. It has, or had, wheels and wings.

*I didn't know you could fly a plane.

*Fly, yes. Land, no.*

He always came around to the booth at AirVenture in Osh Kosh. He is an avid general aviator and frequently acts as an unnoficial spokesman. I don’t know if they’re buddies but John Travolta is always there at the same time. But Travolta is a little wiser and sticks with certified aircraft.

Good set of specs on the PT-22, however the nickname
Maytag Messerschmitt” was used to describe the Piper L-4, Army version of the Cub and used for artillery spotting.

The plane is a real dog with very poor stall spin characteristics.

It was derived from the Ryan STA which is one of the nicest flying aircraft ever but they ruined the STA airframe with the military mods and the piece of junk engine Kinner engine.

In the universe of cool WWII aircraft there are wonderful trainers and L Birds like the Stearman, the Fairchild PT-19/23, the WACO biplanes, the Navy N3N, the Stinson L-5, Piper L-4 , the Taylorcraft L-2 and the Buckers , all of which are safe, fun flying aircraft.

Or just get a Ryan STA if you like the Ryan polished metal look.. STAs cost big bucks but Harrison Ford could buy the entire Ryan STA fleet left flying in the US with his pocket change.

Why in the heck would he fly a widow making dog of a PT -22 when he could afford to fly anything he wanted. It's not even remotely a rewarding plane to fly. It makes no sense.
