When Free Institutions Fail.

Posted on 03/04/2015 3:12:51 AM PST by Jacquerie

Five hundred years ago, Machiavelli wrote how governing institutions designed for FreeRepublics were not only unsuited for corrupted republics, they eventually served to enforce tyranny. His prescience was on display yesterday in the US Congress.

Designed in 1787 as the consensual law making body of a free people and their states, Congress joined in tyrannical partnership with President Obama. Under cover of the reaction to Benjamin Netanyahu’s fabulous speech against Obama’s nefarious plans for Iran and against peace, the Speaker of the House brought a “clean” DHS funding bill to the floor for a vote.

In support of Obama’s lawless revisions of immigration law, Speaker Boehner, dozens of republicans, and all rats voted to grant what will become de facto citizenship to millions of illiterates who have no intention of becoming Americans, but will have every motivation to support the tyranny.

Congress simultaneously destroyed its enumerated power to write immigration law, and assigned it to the executive branch. We The People delegated law making and spending authority to Congress alone. We did not create Congress to justify, endow and rubber-stamp tyranny.

Congress has joined Obama in high crimes against we, the sovereign people. What happened yesterday didn’t show compassion to poor huddled masses yearning to be free; rather, congress slit the throat of the American Republic.

A Congress designed for a FreeRepublic not only no longer serves its purpose, it has become a handmaiden to enslavement.

Congress must be reformed. We can reform it.

When the “social contract” unravels neither party is bound. Congresscriminals might reflect on this.

Solution? Try this. If the gummint wants our bullets we need to seriously consider giving them to them. One at a time.

If everyone quit paying taxes that would hut them.

It is never too late, but have to repeal the 17th.

It will right this ship. Our Founding Fathers were not stupid when they stood this thing called the USA up.

Time to take it back.

Yes, that is the danger of opening that box....

I think it’s time for all on FR and the Tea party to focus on one issue: Repealing the 17th Amendment.

I’ve saying it for years to anyone who will listen, the republican leadership and many rank and file members in both houses are all fascist/socialists, they do not cave they support like minded democrats.

I agree.

Now, why don’t YOU prepare and then publish a list of Obama’s impeachable offenses. Let’s be sure that the harm to American citizens from each such offense is vividly explained.

Then, why don’t you use that list as a kind of survey. Ask everyone you see to condemn each offense.

IMHO,when our citizens demand impeachment, Congress will act.

Just chose this post to support the idea that politics won’t work.

To REPEAL any amendment takes POLITITIANS - who are all CLEARLY the problem here. They’re not gonna make things harder on themselves on OUR behalf. They’re not gonna change the way THEY function in DC in order to give us some of our liberty back again.

It’s like calling the cops after finding out the local police dept. is corrupt.

The only way out is the HARD road out. We all know what that means.

It’s that or we become Cuba.. or worse.

Don’t let the regime co-opt local law enforcement. One of the first ideas (2008) they floated was the idea to disband all county sheriffs. That should tell you who your friends are.

Only delegates will attend. These state delegates will have commissions which detail exactly with what they can vote for and how to vote. I know FL and IN have existing statutes that deal with their delegates to an amendments convention.

I confronted my former congressman, Steve Southerland (FL-2), in public with the fact that Obama committed high crimes.

I met with my state assemblyman too, and explained why an Article V convention is absolutely necessary to possibly save what remains of our republic. FL now has a statute dealing with delegates to the Article V convention.

I've written half a dozen letters to the editor of the Leftist Tallahassee Democrat newspaper, explaining why their Messiah must go.

How? The federal courts are packed with liberal vermin, our alleged representatives refuse to uphold it, and the growing power of an unaccountable federal bureaucracy can negate or ignore any attempt conceived by the Founders.

I write letters too.

But I’m also trying to use in-your-face discussions to change the opinions of Obama-bots. I often thank college kids for “volunteering” to subsidize my healthcare and my life-style. I DON’T leave them laughing...

How? An Article V state convention to propose amendments is an extra-congressional body. Delegates from the states will run it.

The only worthwhile amendments are structural, those which restore federalism and cannot be ignored any easier than even-calendar year elections.

Yes, yesterday was a shocker. First Bibi's fantastic speech then the hit from the house vote. Up then down.

Even more reason to pursue Article V Now!
