Ted Cruz: GOP leadership planned to cave on Obama’s illegal amnesty all along
The Right Scoop ^ | 3/3/15 | The Right Scoop

Ted Cruz says the Republican leadership in both the House and Senate had planned all along on losing this illegal immigration fight to Obama and the Democrats, suggesting this ‘fight’ was nothing more than kabuki theater and that Republicans were never serious about it:

HUFFINGTON POST – Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) charged Tuesday that Republican leaders in Congress had planned all along to capitulate in their battle to defund President Barack Obama’s immigration actions.

Cruz’s remarks came soon after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) decided to bring up a “clean” bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security, backing down from the effort to use department funding to strip authority for Obama’s executive actions.

“Unfortunately, leadership’s plan was never to win this fight,” Cruz told reporters Tuesday.

“Since December, the outcome has been baked in the cake. It was abundantly clear to anyone watching that leadership in both houses intended to capitulate on the fight against amnesty,” Cruz said, adding, “It was a strategy doomed to failure. It’s an old adage in Washington: Never take a hostage you’re not prepared to shoot.”

Yes, the Indispensable Man describes Ted Cruz.

To quote Carl von Clausewitz, "Two qualities are indispensable: first, an intellect that, even in the darkest hour, retains some glimmerings of the inner light which leads to truth; and second, the courage to follow this faint light wherever it may lead."

Too far South. I have family in Hanover. Need a bigger buffer zone. 95/495 sounds good. Have to think of my sister in NoVa.

But you are right...no downside. :)

He’s right.

Their only principle is to have no principles.
Their only strategy is preemptive surrender.
Their only plan for victory is to tick off the base as much as possible.

The Republican Party was founded to replace the Whigs because the Whigs would not take a stand on the critical issues of the day. Well, they did such a good job of replacing the Whigs that they have become the Whigs.

As has been stated here, even Netanyahu’s speech was probably orchestrated to give Boner cover.

I guess I missed that. Do you have a link to that “statement”? Thanks.

With this vote, Congress has become the Senate of Nero’s Rome. It no longer serves any useful purpose. Disband Congress NOW. Don’t spend another dollar of taxpayer money on the hordes of liars, thieves and perverts./ss

What do you do when you walk into the voting booth and your choices are a GOPe RINO or a RAT?

You do what many of us said to do in Kentucky - your vote the RINO out.

You have to play the long game and take the short-term hit. Many of said that it would be better to have Grimes in Kentucky for one term because we could give the seat and still retake the Senate. Kentucky would give the seat back in six years.

It's time to toss out the enemy you don't know for the ones you do know.

Without any investigation or thought you might believe your are doing the right thing, but you would primary one of the highest ranked conservatives in the house. He had a reason for voting Boner, best find out why, and then do what you think is right.

That was the only vote from Raul Labrador that I ever took issue with. He’s not mine, but you can count on him as a conservative, where others you cannot, so let’s throw the baby out with the bathwater, and listen to the agitators try to kill any votes for GOP candidates before the next election has even begun.

I believe such action is called poisoning the well, and agitators have a rich target environment right here at FreeRepublic. You win a stunning victory in the last election, and already folks are trying to undo that victory and upset the potential for the next by stirring the political pot based on one issue and the lack of brass ones in the House and Senate.

All of the RINO’s are still around and the recent election was not a coup. It took decades for the decline of the Congress, one hopes it won’t take decades to rid ourselves of the dead wood, but the fight goes on and you win by small margins in a nation pretty evenly divided on what direction we are supposed to be heading. Stop fighting for what is right and you get what you deserve.

"The question is: What does it mean if majority party is secretly working for the minority party?"

I sort it out by simply referring to them as the democrat party and the democrat-republican party. Boehner is a democrat. McConnell is a democrat. Graham's a democrat. McCain is a democrat. Exc...

What they do will make sense if you replace the word "Rino" with "democrat.

As for Senator Cruz- good for him calling them out over yet another despicable tactic. (This one is right up there with what they pulled in Mississippi.)

I'm not that surprised by this revelation- I can recall thinking that the dem-repubs were trying to pull some kind of BS, and take Cruz down, when I first heard they put everything on DHS funding .

Still-I didn't think they would be so scummy that they would invite BiBi here so they could cover up their treacherous act against America. And it truly is "that bad".

If you read about what the goals are for this "country within a country" and how American taxpayers and legal citizens are to be "forced" to pay for these millions of illegals, and then be removed from influence and "replaced" by them-TREASON is the only word that comes to mind. ( I hope there are hearings where those who voted for this monstrosity are asked to explain themselves.)

All you union people and everyone else go
HERE
and read about how much the dems and dem republicans(rinos) "care" about you and your children.

They are scheming to have you diminished and replaced with desperate people who will work for miniscule wages and accept third world living conditions all the while having YOU pay for their care and upkeep.

(I bet there won't be any more $100 per hour long shoreman (sp?) jobs or any unions for that matter-when the marxist democrats of both parties achieve their goals.) But I do think there was one bright spot.

The treasonous Republican marxists tried to use Netanyahu as cover for their dirty deed- But I got a very strong feeling while watching him give his speech- a feeling that our Almighty Father was right there too- and that He is playing chess with the forces of darkness and that a major move was made by Him.

“Does anyone know if Congress is required to take up a vetoed bill again?”

Nothing would compel Congress to take up the bill again after a veto. This could happen if Congress knows there isn’t enough votes to over ride. Congress could then pass a new bill more acceptable to the President or do nothing.

Shutting down a portion of the Government is something either party can do. The question is what happens then? In this case, about 240,000 essential government employees would be compelled to work while not receiving a paycheck. How long would you think Congress would withstand that pressure? The general consensus is not long. The general consensus is that the Republicans would be blamed.

To Lab's credit, he voted on Nay on Obama/Boehner's amnesty of 100 million illegal invaders, but the fix was already in when Lab voted Boehner as Speaker, so his 'nay' vote was not relevant anymore. As you well know, conservatives on FR have been pretty vocal about the non-stop capitulation over the years of RINO leaders to liberal issues since Obama was elected to office.

And what is wrong with primarying Lab anyways? He's been a congress critter since 2011 and has passed the threshold of a traditional 4-year military enlistment. He's done his public service, and he should move on the to private sector and make society better by working hard, like all of us.

He's not royalty, he's a normal man, with faults. But when a politician votes a known enemy of conservatism into a leadership position, who basically granted 100 million illegal invaders the right to vote against conservative leaders in the future, then this politician deserves to be booted from political office. So I give my final judgment with a fat thumb down.

The general consensus is that the Republicans would be blamed.

You know what? I don't care. If the GOP has not mastered the art of politics, it has no business in politics. All the party does is take our money and votes. Instead of saying thank you, they say F you.

Boehner just played us every bit the fool as Bubba dud when he wagged his finger in front of the country saying he did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinksy.

If you go back and look at my posts over the years, I have been consistent. I have said sitting out an election is against everything I stand for. It is a wasted vote. Last fall I said the reason to vote for the GOP candidates in the election was a way of saying they had 2 years to produce results.

I have no doubt the only reason the deadline was extended a week is because Boehner got together with Reid and Pelosi promising he will bring the clean DHS bill to the floor right after Netanyahu's address yesterday. No one will notice until after the fact, when it is too late. I agree with Cruz-this has been in the works since Cromnibus.

I have reached my limit. I have been played the fool for the last time. Never again will I vote for a member of the GOP, even if that member was Ronald Reagan reincarnated with one exception, if Scott Walker is the nominee. (Maybe Cruz) I will vote for Walker for one reason only. He is the only one to my knowledge not afraid of the fight. Honestly, at this point his political beliefs and policies mean nothing to me. He did not survive the recall election & was not re-elected by rolling over and playing dead. I like Cruz, but he has not had a chance to prove himself. Walker has proved he has the fortitude.

Other than Walker-never again.

My spirit told me that while watching the speech yesterday, all the glad handing and clapping was false. They are almost all evil and rotten to the core. It wont be much longer.

“I have reached my limit. I have been played the fool for the last time.”

I’m going to say this in the kindest way possible; you are the one who played yourself for the fool. It was apparent from the very beginning how this would end. For weeks, I’ve been pointing out the very simple fact that without 13 democrat senators voting to over ride Obama’s veto, this was going nowhere. I’ve been called all sorts of names (Quisling, traitor, RINO douche, etc.) for pointing out that fact.

That is not to say that you should abandon the GOP since that is the equivalent of surrendering to the democrats (Hillary is waiting.) You just need to have a reasonable expectation of what they can accomplish. Thinking that they can/will shutdown the government to placate 20% of the republican caucus is not reasonable. Thinking that they can escape the consequences of sending 200,000 federal employees to work every day without pay is not reasonable regardless of what Cruz and others may say.

BTW, it has been stated that one of the reasons Obama did this executive action was to disrupt and demoralize the GOP base. Cruz and others, by making unreasonable claims, have played directly into this strategic calculus There are battles that can be won. This wasn’t one of them. Time to move on.

LOVE IT! I agree with you...Why not send both knee pads and a Kotex pad. I can't throw a shoe at Bonehead or CabbagePatch Mitch (so called by me ‘cause his face looks like something you'd find on a Cabbage Patch doll.) But I can show my rage by sending them both a set of pads...”When you care enough to send the very best.”
