This was the inevitable end of this charade. There never was a chance that the Republicans were going to commit political suicide by shutting down all or part of the government.

Time to move onto a battle we can win and quit wasting time or energy tilting at windmills.

Brave Sir Robin photo: Brave Sir Robin Brave_Brave_Sir_Robin.jpg "A battle we can win ... tilting at windmills" For the past six years, whenever the establishment GOP has had a chance to fight the Democrats, we've had "moderates" like yourself on this conservative site giving this same sage advice, verbatim, Sir Chicken of Uniparty: urging "discretion", arguing that we should move on the next dispute that Republicrats can flee, handing over to the (here, out-of-power) Democrats another win while you give the same craven recommendation that we concede.
