I have been seriously worried about normalcy bias in our recent negotiations with both Iran and Russia. A persistent mistake in Western negotiations is assuming that your opponent is both rational and reasonable. To put it mildly, that isn’t always the case.

BINGO! Liberals “know” that certain “facts” are always true. There is no place in their worldview for deviation from that they “know” to be true. They assume the person they are dealing with is exactly like they’d like to think they are. (As an example, they send a woman or obvious gay person to represent America in a culture that offers no status to or kills those type people. When nothing happens to them that proves their contention. When they get killed, what now does it matter?)
