Obama "Very Interested" In Raising Taxes Through Executive Action

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed Monday that President Obama is "very interested" in the idea of raising taxes through unitlateral executive action.

"The president certainly has not indicated any reticence in using his executive authority to try and advance an agenda that benefits middle class Americans," Earnest said in response to a question about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) calling on Obama to raise more than $100 billion in taxes through IRS executive action.

"Now I don't want to leave you with the impression that there is some imminent announcement, there is not, at least that I know of," Earnest continued. "But the president has asked his team to examine the array of executive authorities that are available to him to try to make progress on his goals. So I am not in a position to talk in any detail at this point, but the president is very interested in this avenue generally," Earnest finished.

Sanders sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew Friday identifying a number of executive actions he believes the IRS could take, without any input from Congress, that would close loopholes currently used by corporations. In the past, IRS lawyers have been hesitant to use executive actions to raise significant amounts of revenue, but that same calculation has change in other federal agencies since Obama became president.

Obama's preferred option would be for Congress to pass a corporate tax hike that would fund liberal infrastructure projects like mass transit. But if Congress fails to do as Obama wishes, just as Congress has failed to pass the immigration reforms that Obama prefers, Obama could take actions unilaterally instead. This past November, for example, Obama gave work permits, Social Security Numbers, and drivers licenses to approximately 4 million illegal immigrants.

Those immigration actions, according to the Congressional Budget Office, will raise federal deficits by $8.8 billion over the next ten years .

Will no one rid us of this troublesome usurper?

I'm with you. Just think in one week he's tried to ban 5.56mm NATO ammo and got his way with "net neutrality." I ran into Jim Quinn, the talkshow host, in a department store and while I was ringing him up, he said the same thing as you and me and even said that if the "Republicans we elected do not impeach him or at least stop him, they are just as guilty of malfeasance as Obama." I told Quinn, "we have a Doomsday Machine on two legs."

If some foreign power did to us what Obama has done, I think in that case, we would have attacked the enemy with atomic weapons. Com to think of it, in a way, he has done more damage to this country than someone entity would do with an atomic weapon or three. Yes, there would be a huge number of casualties much more than we have now but I know our country would have rallied back as well as toss political correctness under the bus. Maybe that’s what it will take, that is, if we survive.

There aren’t enough cuss words in the English language to describe this weasel of a president and the little pukes like Earnest who surround him.

Yeah, plus I often said in the last several years, "they say the center of the sun is 35 million degrees, my hatred for this administration is much hotter than that." Every year since Obozo's election, when she watched the Boston Pops play "God Bless America," she would break out and cry and say, "I hate what he is doing to our country. " She passed in November of 2013, inflammatory breast cancer. Even as the cancer went to her brain, she still scowled and cussed at the TV when Obozo came on. Heck, my Snowshoe Cat, Whitey, she'd hissed at him on the TV screen and swatted him when she was alive. Mom one time did the same thing when watching an old rerun of Andy Williams, she cried as she said, "I wish we were back in the world of Andy Williams" as he sang "Ave Maria." I'm really mad at him, not only for raping America but for making my Mom cry.

I hear you, Kas. When the talk started about 0bama going beyond his two terms I was skeptical, but the more of this talk from his lapdogs that comes out I’m thinking it’s a real possibility.

I don’t see fifty American states under the current Constitution in 20 years, I don’t.

If we still have a Constitution, it will be purely symbolic and a sham, like in the old USSR. Hell, it’s almost there now.

It would be interesting to see a point-by-point comparison of individual and local-government autonomy/authority under George III vs Obama I.

Well, I think you’re right. My father says the same thing all the time. We might shatter into several nations, maybe one or three might adhere to the ideals of the Constitution while others become more like Obamaland or whatever. Some might join Canada or if Canada breaks up, pieces from both join up. The Mormons might get their wish in having a Desert Republic. I can see an atomic war as well. This will most likely start as a result where somebody says “enough!” The future is murky, but I do not see the U.S. surviving as an entity as we know it.

Yeah, it would make an interesting in comparing the two. For some reason, I think King George III would win.

No, that was sent to me and I have just been reposting it.

I made this one today from a picture I saw on WRSA.
