I doubt it will “cost him”; he was already behind or in doubt and so was going to take this opportunity to speak to Congress while he’s still PM. He’s unlikely to get another chance.
Last year, Netanyahu addressed AIPAC with the same concerns at this exact time. And last year, 100 Congressmen urged the Speaker to invite Bibi to speak to a joint meeting then.
Yes there are millions of leftists in Israel. This should come as no surprise to anybody with a brain.
