I had (and have) no insurance and required surgery to repair
severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

I found an orthopedic surgeon who would take cash.

I was informed that the procedure would have run $5,600
if I had insurance.

Cash - $1,932 for everything - surgery, office visits, follow up, etc.

Hubby recently spent 3 days in the hospital for a surgery. Got a copy of what they billed the insurance...almost $87,000. Insurance paid $7987 or so. I said... that’s about right.
That doesn’t include doctors, anesthesiologists, etc. Just the hospital.
