After numerous negative stories portraying Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu's wife Sara as a wicked witch, the Jerusalem Post has published a flattering interview conducted by bestselling novelist Naomi Ragen portraying her as a loving mother and professional woman despite all recent reports.
The interview took place moments after the State Comptroller report was released and was conducted in the Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem. While waiting for Netanyahu, Ragen compared the furniture in Netanyahu's home to her neighbor's, writing that her neighbor's "furnishings are nicer, certainly newer."
Sara Netanyahu has been frequently portrayed as a vindictive Imelda Marcus/Marie Antoinette, targeted as the butt of jokes and scorn. Most recently, "bottlegate" erupted when it was reported that she pocketed thousands of shekels in cash from empty bottle deposits, which she made staffers collect from supermarkets and hand over to her.
Pulling up a chair next to Ragen, Sara Netanyahu said that despite all the negative stories, there are none about her upbringing because "no one ever asks me, and no one is interested."
Very family-oriented, she told Ragen that growing up her family was very close, "I wouldnt say our parents spoiled us there was very little money in those days for that but they spent time with us, and education was very important to them. It was a warm and nurturing household."
"I remember our home being a meeting spot for neighbors and friends, who came to consult my mother about their problems and to get her advice. I think thats where my desire to become a psychologist began."
Sarah Netanyahu was a psycho-technical diagnostician in the IDFs Intelligence Corps during her army service and earned her BA in psychology from Tel Aviv University and her masters in psychology with honors from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
She works several times a week as head of psychological counseling for students and parents, "When I go to work," she said, "I'm there 100 percent; I love my work."
She also loves volunteering, Ragen pointed out, both with soldiers and with children. Last September, following the summer war between Israel and Hamas, she went to visit lone soldiers who had taken part in the fighting.
"Rosh Hashana is coming. Whatever the government decides to do for them, Im not going to let my soldiers, who fought in this war, go without. It really bothered me. In about two days, I was able to raise about NIS 400,000 to make sure they and other needy soldiers got what they needed for the holiday."
She has also stayed close to the remaining Fogel children, whose parents and siblings were murdered in Itamar in the West Bank in 2011 by Palestinian terrorists, "to this day, Im in touch with their grandparents," she said.
Ragen asked how she felt about her youngest son insisting on joining a combat unit, rather than a position in media, "like any other mother in Israel" she responded.
Adding after a moment that "someone recently told me that on Iranian websites, they have pictures of my boys with target signs on them. I dont make an issue out of it, but people dont seem to realize that today my sons in or out of the army are now a target."
On her husband, "I believe he is a man who will go down in history as a great leader, but in the here and now, the media in Israel are so hostile towards him. It hurts me; he is so admired in the rest of the world. Our media try to present him as a solitary figure in world politics. This is not true; wherever he goes in the world, other world leaders seek out his company and his opinions. Hes highly respected.
"Hes a hero not only of the Jewish people, but of people everywhere who feel themselves part of the free world, people who oppose the horrors that Islamic State is inflicting and Irans nuclear plans. I see my relationship with him as a great responsibility."
Father God,
We ask in the name of Jesus that you put a hedge of protection around Bibi Netanyahua and his family. My no arrow formed against them prosper.
May they look to You as their Shield and Protection.
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray.
Amen.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a hero ... as is said here.
Well then I guess she better see that they are well trained and well armed.
Nice article. What a wonderful woman.
There are very, very few great leaders alive in our era. Bibi Netanyahu is one of the great ones if not the very best one of all. All his naysayers can stick it.
I’m giving you a witness. Amen to that prayer.
Can’t wait for Tuesday’s speech.
Wondering what hussein and his minion have in store.....
Obammys kids feeeel their pain.
Those foolks on Instagram can get pretty rowdy too.
Social networking.. Character assassination.. And more.
Just a few clicks on your keyboard away.
No wonder Obammy wants to reel it in.
Nothing personal, I’m sure..
Even if it is .. For the children.
“Hussein and his minion have in store...” Well I’ve heard Biden will be somewhere, out of country. Hussein will probably fly to CA or HA to play golf, or go somewhere for a $40,000.00 plate “campaign” luncheon. Pelosi will probably look for a tv camera to show her disinterest in Bibi’s appearance and speech. Reid will we squawking somewhere,
Many Israeli woman are on the tough side.
Comes from being shot at. They learn to shoot back.
Prayers for Bibi and his family.
His wife is right on all counts.
God bless and keep her.
She is a hero, too.
Amen.
This lady has her head screwed on straight. Her sons are blessed to have such strong parents. They will do okay.
Thank you for your prayers,
This is what we all should be praying daily, we are battling against unclean spirits and principalities and powers operating at the highest levels in this world system,
I agree.
