Well, that e-mail of the phrase in the headline of this thread kinda leads one to believe that it wasn’t her idea at least, but she went along with it.

What I want to know is, if they wiped them, why didn’t they write and wipe a few dozen times? Morons. They should not be in charge of a hot dog truck. They try to cover up their crime, but can’t even do it right. They work all day with sensitive documents of every single American, but they can’t correctly wipe a hard drive so that no data can be recovered? W T F.

They were only looking to mask from in kernal search.
If something is deleted, the program simply deregisters the location (yes lurkers, this is for you) so that you can then open your email and go “zOMG! Teh emailz iz gone! Gasp and shock!”
Once they did that and the furor died back, they neglected to multi write it as they felt they didn’t need to.
Oops.

Reason: arrogance.
*sigh*
Wish they had just coughed it up in the first place.
