Senate Republicans are fuming over the House GOP’s decision to extend the standoff over the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a move that they say uses up political oxygen and burns precious time on the legislative calendar.
GOP senators say it’s time to move on to other issues, such as the budget, trade legislation, and regulatory and tax reform.
They must defend 24 seats in the 2016 election and worry that voters could soon start to question their ability to govern unless they can move forward with a more substantive agenda.
The fight over President Obama’s executive actions on immigration brought that agenda to a standstill in February, as the threat of a homeland security shutdown thwarted other priorities.
“I just think we ought to move on to other things. I’m not sure how it helps for the American people to have the perception that Republicans in the Senate and Republicans in the House are at odds with each other,” said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
“We have a lot of initiatives I think we could show the American people we can work together on,” he added.
Senate Republicans say there’s no need to extend the battle over immigration given that a federal court in Texas has declared that Obama’s executive action violated the Administrative Procedure Act.
“Why don’t we just look at the court decision in Texas, declare victory and move on?” said Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).
Senate Republicans say they expect the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold Judge Andrew Hanen’s ruling on the district level.
“When the judge ruled, that was the way I wanted to end it,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

That can’t even hit a softball pitch to save their lives because they just won’t swing at the ball. Instead they take swings at their best players.
But in their infinite wisdom the Founders knew it would be far better that the senators be chosen by popular vote. Otherwise, the senators would be held accountable by the state legislatures instead of inattentive voters every six years. It’s far better that the chosen senators be given a national stage to dance on. Far better that states be weakened and the federal government strengthened. Brilliant plan.
LOL. If the rabble in the House disturbs the rarified airs in the Senate, imagine the Senate’s pique at the peoples! The gops have been selected to lead the battle to militate against the fall of the constitution. They, rather, dither, and deal away that which is not theirs to offer.

I briefly drifted from ‘what is’ to ‘what was meant to be’ and now I’ve returned to harsh reality. Will it ever be what it was meant to be?
House members should issue the following statement-Our Constitution gives legislative authority to only the Congress. Those here in the House as well as the Senate who wish to forfeit that authority to either the Executive or the Judicial branches are in violation of their Oath of Office. If they are either unable or unwilling to stamd up for this principle for the sake of governing as they’be put it, they should tender their resignations to their respective Governors and allow their sears to be filled by some one who will.

My dream one night before the primary was that Ted Cruz would enter the primary race against Cornyn, beat him resoundingly and take his Senate seat, while Abbot would have picked a solid conservative as Senator until the special election were held.
Just a dream, but Ted is so much more wildly popular in our state that it made sense to me.
The bottom line too many pubbies bend over constantly to get screwed by Obama and the RATS. When the RATS had the senate recall how they used the “nuke option”, a mere majority vote, to get fellow RAT judges appointed. Now that the shoe is on the other foot the pubbies continue to let the filibuster rule stand instead of repaying the RATS. Time for the pubbies to grow a set of cajones.
The “Republican” senators who are squawking are nothing more than Obama’s Boy Toys.
