Eric Holder’s Parting Advice to America: ‘Read Malcolm X’

President Obama’s outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder made an eyebrow-raising book recommendation in his exit interview with Politico on Friday.

Asked by Politico’s Mike Allen to name the one book Holder would recommend for a young man coming to Washington to read, Holder recommended the work of controversial civil rights figure Malcolm X.

“I would hope that I say this not to every African-American of his age but for every American, that you read The Autobiography of Malcolm X to see the transition that that man went through, from petty criminal to a person who was severely and negatively afflicted by race, to somebody who ultimately saw the humanity in all of us, and that would be a book I would recommend to everybody,” said Holder.

Actually, I too recommend reading the Malcolm X biography. He came to realize that Elijah Mohammad was a con artist and the whites weren't devils.

Enter Calypso Louie.

What about Malcolm I through IX?

I'd think if Malcolm X were as popular as Holder thinks, we wouldn't have been waiting so many years for the sequel, Malcolm XI.

(The prequels, Malcolm I through Malcolm IX might not ever happen.)

he wasn't afraid to stand up for what he believed in.

That's what got him killed by the nation of islam. He was doubting his faith and doubting the whole black nationalism movement. He called them mindless robots.

Wasn’t in Calypso Louis’ predecessor Elijah Muhammad who had Malcolm X whacked?

Actually I suspect Malcolm X would not think very highly of Holder

"I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against."

-Malcolm X

Well, that rules out Holder.

His change occurred after he made the Hajj to Mecca, and noticed there were a lot of white Muslims there as well, so he definitely was moving towards a more mainstream form of Islam.

How about Atlas Shrugged?

"Yes, at first I was happy to be learning how to read. It seemed exciting and magical, but then I read this: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I read every last word of its garbage, and because of this piece of ...., I'm never reading again."

I don’t think Malcolm X would have ever been a solid conservative but I have no doubt that he would be loudly protesting blacks being the willing slaves of the democrat party.

Guy could give a hell of an extemporaneous speech. Talk like him at a TEA Party meeting and DHS will come after you.

How did that work out for him?

He called blacks who vote democrat chumps (and those who vote republican too). You can find videos of the speech online, and it is still relevant today.
