WASHINGTON (AP) - The House has cleared the way for passage of a short-term bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security and avert a partial agency shutdown. The vote was 240-183, and it came just hours ahead of a midnight deadline to fund the agency.

Wow - 24 no’s so far from GOP. how many can they lose?
They wouldn’t take the vote if they hadn’t already agreed to cave.
Losers and liars, every one.
Impossible now for Boehner to pass it with only Republican votes.
And so far no Dems have voted aye.
Needs 218 - only has 185 w/23 GOP votes left.
Almost all DEMS voting NAY
The math is not there.
Dems will fold IMO.
Is "Boehner" a French name?
Doesn't sound French, but then... maybe "Boehner" wasn't his father's name...
The games continue.....
They need 218 right? If yes, then no won’t pass without DEM help.
Waiting on last votes - stalling now. Bet $$ changing hands.
Yeah, OUR dollars.

Chief deputy whip Patrick McHenry is working this thing. Keeps running to McCarthy. They’re working for every vote. Currently 202-219.”
Now it's 204 Y - 222 N
The House Freedom Caucus has stood together and shown it’s power. This is not the fight I’d have chosen, but Jordan and the rest must know what they are doing.
Gotta admire how Pelosi has held out too. Boehner’s gonna have to pay her big to get those Dem nays changed to yeas.
“Matt Fuller @MEPFuller
Scalise and McCarthy huddling, laying out papers, identifying targets. Democrats, meanwhile, have pretty much all voted. Passage in doubt.”
Proceeding to motion to instruct conferees to accede to the Senate bill.
This would be the biggest treachery ever if RINOs passed it, and 19 have voted for it so far..
Man was McCarthy unhappy, his tears are sweet.
Didn’t pass but close! Damn RINO’s.
& of course, this is breaking news everywhere, literally..the GOP doesn’t care about us, they want ISIS to kill us, war on women etc..
Yeah, had me worried!
“Matt Fuller @MEPFuller
Conservatives are in high spirits right now. They’re going to meet now to discuss next steps.”
Par for the “We’re Conservative {uhhhhhh} but Progressive!” RINOcratic course.
re my post 22
I owe you an apology!
I was just driving home from the store and flipped on BBC radio of all channels, and they gave a few U.S. headlines, and I was wondering to myself whether the BBC was tuned into U.S. congressional news to give a fig about the DHS vote...
Suddenly the reader gave the good word...I almost hit the ditch in surprise.
Good for the conservatives in congress...their stand is the correct one but it will bring down the wrath of the left (meaning the media!) upon them.
I will be calling my congressman again, this time to tell him thanks.
“He may be shamming us and only buying time, but to his credit, hes sticking to regular order: when the House and Senate disagree, they conference and work out their differences.”
I am skeptical but will give him a chance.
He did invite Netanyahu to speak, after all. Totally unexpected.
