(CNN)Nine people are dead after shootings in south-central Missouri, the Houston Herald newspaper in Missouri reported Friday morning, citing a sheriff there.

There are multiple crime scenes, including four in the Texas County community of Tyrone, county Sheriff James Sigman told the Herald.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is expected to hold a news conference about the deaths at about 9 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET) Friday, CNN affiliate KYTV reported.

Meth and drugs all over the rural mid-west, but the federal government is not interested in this problem. They want to control the internet.

The federal government LOVES the power that the WOD gives them to legally steal from the people and to imprison them.

Very quick to blame the WOD, aren’t we?

As if surrendering in the WOD would suddenly magically make the meth problems disappear and go away.

How about we surrender in the WOM? (Murder) That way this killing spree would not be a problem.

Sounds like the drug scum themselves racked up a pretty good toll in this case.

Let’s have a WOC. War on Crime. We are CONSTANTLY being asked to be more sensitive and accomodating to criminal activity from Ferguson to the Rio Grande to the IRS/Dept HHS/Obamacare/etc. Let’s have a WOC until C is not an acceptable choice anymore.

No, the problems with drug abuse won’t go away if we end the WOD. It is my simple assertion that the WOD does more harm to our freedoms than it does to enhance our security.

Sounds more like a domestic squabble where the perp (apparently dead by suicide) retaliates against family or family-in-law.

Recall recently such a case of Bradley Stone in Sydney, PA who killed 6 family members at several different locations.

Presser at 9:00 CT, unless rescheduled.

It sounds similar to the situation in Montgomery County, PA not long ago. This is rage (possibly drug induced), not drug gangs .

I’m thinking the ‘victims’ were terminated by an irate parent or spouse, doing a little vigilante work.

We won’t hear the newstards use the word “murderer” or “criminal” in this houseplace violence incident.

I suspect this is absolutely correct. And as such, legalizing meth would NOT have prevented this killing spree. If anything, legal meth would equal more meth heads and would equal more such tragedies.

If we legalize crime, it will go away.

Many times, the perp is the deadbeat offspring sucking off the family teat. When the money gets threatened, he goes off.

I'd expect alcohol to be more likely involved than meth.

Absolutely. There was nowhere near the amount of violent crime in the US prior to prohibition!

Both "Aspirin" and "Heroin" are trademarks of AG Bayer and Co.

Before prohibition and when first launched, Coca-Cola's key ingredients were cocaine and caffeine and cocaine could be purchased in concentrated form from the Sears catalog. There are very definitely beneficiaries of the "War on Drugs" but the beneficiaries are not the peons who get to pay for it all and duck the bullets. I think that the chances that the WOD will end during my lifetime are fairly remote, but that still doesn't mean that the societal costs of the WOD aren't still greater than the societal benefits. [/end rant]

(Just to preemptively answer the knee-jerk response to my rant, the only mind-altering drug I use is coffee.)
