All of what's been going on in Washington will hopefully get these pushed through the various legislative chambers, to as Tom Coburn put it, "rein in the federal leviathan."

Three-fifths of the states are acting, approaching two-thirds.

Am I the only one that thinks a Constitutional Convention is a REALLY horrible idea??

Too many opportunities for political shenanigans, like enshrining gay culrure, etc., and the chance to really wipe out our liberties in this.

The problem isn’t with our Constitution, it is not enforcing what the Constitution says.

Given who our governor is, and who is running our state senate. I would not count on Minnesota.

There needs to be a long period of famine to recover from the underclass population explosion. Nothing else will reverse the decay.

First amendment, tax all proceeds of the Clinton foundation at 90%. The Clintons need 2 billion dollars like a fish needs a bikini.

Thank you for posting. Most of the time I have been depending on direct email updates via http://www.conventionofstates.com/

It has become very frustrating to read the discussions on FR. The left provides me with enough negativity and it is just too disheartening to see it here too. Hand wringing what-iffers who continue to ramble on about a “runaway convention” or “concon”.

IMO-If you say you are a Constitutional conservative and sit at a keyboard throwing up reasons why using Article V of the Constitution will not work, then you do not understand the Constitution.

For those who think the Article V process is too risky, I repeat what other posters have said, "What other options do you see?"

To summarize from a previous post by Grace G, I see it as:

1. Elect More Republicans - Failed due to RINO/Uni-party confluence.

2. Article V Convention of States to propose Amendments - Needed to try to take power from the federal government back to the states and reel in the the federal leviathan.

3. State Nullification - Last ditch effort to try to take power back from the federal monster, though by this point it may be too late...

4. State Secession - Could either end up peaceably like the breakup of the Czechoslovakia in 1993 or a brutal:

5. Civil War II like the first one.... The longer we wait on #2, the more likely #3, then #4 and finally #5. .

Quick review: We need 34 states to pass an application, then Congress shall, by law, call a Convention of States as soon as it receives application from 2/3 of the State Legislatures. That's 34 states. We now have 30 working on it.

Please see this great summary video below from Alabama first.

Most FReepers are aware of these links, but I post anyway for review and for people new to Article V. It is our responsibility to make Article V the most understood aspect of the US Constitution.
