FCC chief: Obama didn't dictate Web rules.

Translation: Obama dictated Web rules.

Republicans have raised alarms

**********
And that’s about all they’ll do. The White Flag Party will do nothing about it, as usual.

“I’m quite comfortable that we made this decision with independence and wisdom and based on the record”

Guess he had to vote for it so we could find out what’s in it. Tradition, you know.... worked so well the last time.

"FCC chief: Obama didn't dictate Web rules "
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

It doesn’t matter if Obama didn’t dictate web rules. Both RINO-controlled Congress and FCC bureaucrats are wrongly ignoring that Constitution permits only elected members of Congress to regulate interstate electronic communications, and only to some extent imo.

The FCC takeover of regulation of the internet is akin to the feds takeover of heaalthcare via 0bamacare.

Let your representatives know that the government has no business taking taxes and telling internet providers how to offer the internet to customers. This needs to be turned around by legislation ASAP.

If you like your freedom of speech, you will be able to keep your freedom of speech. Period.

If you like your internet, you will be able to keep your internet. Period.

No one will take them away. No matter what.

Obama’s actions during the last day or so include attempts to eviscerate both the First and Second Amendments, and we need to contact our congressional reps who are responsible for holding this lawbreaker accountable.

On August 12, 2008, FCC Commissioner Robert M. McDowell stated that the reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine could be intertwined with the debate over network neutrality (a proposal to classify network operators as common carriers required to admit all Internet services, applications and devices on equal terms), presenting a potential danger that net neutrality and Fairness Doctrine advocates could try to expand content controls to the Internet.[39] It could also include "government dictating content policy". [Wiki source]

"government dictating content policy"? Yes. Obama long-time friend says yes! and he uses Free Republic as a prime reason for the need.

Here's how President Obama's head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs and author of "Repulblic.com," Cass Sunstein, describes FreeRepublic.com as "group polarization," where people segregate themselves so effectively online with other like-minded thinkers that they create an echo chamber where the group's worst and most malevolent opinions get reinforced and strengthened. "We might want to consider," Sunstein startlingly told the Times recently, "the possibility of ways of requiring or encouraging sites to link to opposing viewpoints."

He recently left the Administration to take a job at Harvard.

In a Fox News story, the tools for the destruction of free speech stand out:

These new rules would not only affect your services, it would also give FCC regulators the power to decide what content on the Internet was “just and reasonable.” Commissioner Tom Wheeler makes the absurd comment that the FCC would never use those powers. But in a February 4 issue of Wired, he already hints at ways bureaucrats could start dictating what they view as “threats” on the Internet:

“…my proposal includes a general conduct rule that can be used to stop new and novel threats to the Internet. This means the action we take will be strong enough and flexible enough not only to deal with the realities of today, but also to establish ground rules for the as yet unimagined.”

So where did 300+ pages of “rules” come from virtually overnight?

Listening to an FM music radio station today, the DJ said that we should be thankful for "Net Neutrality". He said that now companies nor government (lol) can't control the content of the internet.

Never mind the fact that the government thru the FCC is now controlling the internet.

Probably not too far off. You know as soon as they made their intent known months ago they probably put people on it because they knew the GOP would fold like a cheap tent and nothing would stop them especially if the stuffed envelopes are being handed out...so you can probably guess the “surveillance system” has been activated or will be activated soon. They won’t start tampering with right wing sites just yet. They’ll let people get comfortable and then the outages will start later followed by door knocks and unlawful searches and seizures by DHS officials. Mark my words ....
