John Boehner Blows Kisses to the Press, Won't Budge on DHS
NATIONAL JOURNAL ^ | February 26, 2015 | Marina Koren

Funding for the department expires at midnight on Friday.

...

Boehner doesn't appear to be going along with his Republican counterparts in the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is looking to avert a shutdown by offering Democrats a clean funding bill for DHS. The speaker would not say whether he would back a Senate funding bill without provisions that would defund President Obama's executive actions on immigration. At one point, Boehner blew kisses at reporters after they asked whether he would.

...

McConnell had attempted to push through a House-passed funding bill four times, but Senate Democrats blocked it each time because of the immigration language.

"Yesterday, the White House press secretary said that this was a fight amongst Republicans. It is not a fight amongst Republicans," Boehner said on Thursday. "All Republicans agree that we want to fund the Department of Homeland Security and we want to stop the president's actions in response to immigration."

Color me amazed that he's held out this long.

He'll cave, ultimately.

I would conjecture that within 48 hours of a DHS
shut down a terrorist action will be LIHOPed.

Is Obama trying to blackmail and create so much panic in the American people and Republicans in Congress that Congress will have no choice but to fund the Homeland Security bill stalled in Congress?

(Obama is such a two-faced hypocrite. On the one hand, he tries to reassure us that ISIS is a jayvee team, and so, according to Obama and his thugs, they really pose no true threat to the United States homeland, while, on the other hand, Obama----in order to try to get his version of the Homeland Security bill passed that grants all types of freebies instantly to 4 to 10 million illegals----warns us of terrible things that terrorists will do to us if Congress doesn't give Homeland Security everything it wants, such as broad powers to hand illegals all kinds of goodies like work permits and access to benefits like Social Security. )

Obama's blackmail attempt goes something like this:

1. Obama says: If you don't fund Homeland Security for the next year by giving it all the money it says it needs to fight terrorism---everyone knows that Obama is referring to Islamic terrorists, but he won't use the word "Islamic". What an idiot---terrorists will run wild over the United States, attacking such sites as malls and other buildings to the point that Americans will live in constant fear and terror for their lives.

2. On the other hand, according to Obama's blackmail attempt, if you give Homeland Security all the money it says it needs to fight terrorism, and, at the same time, also give it money and unlimited power to give 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to such things as work permits, housing, and benefits like Social Security, the United States will be a much safer and greater nation forever and ever. What a bunch of horse manure.

3. Hogwash: I say Hogwash. I say that it will slowly destroy the United States as we know it if we give Homeland Security broad powers to quickly process 4 to 10 million illegal aliens so that the illegals have instant access to such things as jobs, housing and benefits like Social Security.

Giving all those illegals all that they demand will do more irreversible damage to our towns and cities than any terrorists' attacks will ever do.

4. So I say this to Republican Congressmen: We take our chances with terrorists and we shutdown Homeland Security. That is, I say that we take our chances for the next year with a stripped-down Homeland Security and hope that terrorists attacks will not be as horrible as Obama and his thugs paint them out to be.

(I believe it is safe to say that most illegals don't care about Islamic terrorists. In fact, I doubt if many illegals have any idea what Islam and ISIS are about. They are probably puzzled why Americans are so scared of this ISIS, a group far, far away on another continent nobody cares about. Most of the illegals only care about themselves. And the rest of America be damned.)

5. My point is this: Giving 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to jobs and benefits like Social Security will destroy more of the United States as we know it than any ISIS terrorist attacks in the coming year will ever destroy, even if we have to fight Islamic terrorists with a shutdown or stripped -down Homeland Security.

6. To the Republicans in Congress: Don't fall for Obama's blackmail attempt as he tries to persuade you to pass the Homeland Security bill so that he can legalize 4 to 10+ million illegals. Don't fall for Obama's scare tactics.

7. Handing Homeland Security almost unlimited broad powers this year to give 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to jobs and to such social benefits as Social Security benefits without a fight would be a horrible mistake, because such a surrender will do more severe damage to what we know as the American way of life than any ISIS terrorist attack that may hit the United States in the next year.

8. Again, I hope that Congress does not surrender to Obama's blackmail attempt when it comes to this horrible Homeland Security bill that gives Homeland Security almost unlimited powers to legalize 4 to 10+ million illegal aliens.

I remember after one of the presidential debates where Obama did so mind numbingly poorly I commented to my wife: “Look at him. He is acting like none of this matters. Like the debate is irrelevant and simple annoying theater.

Yep, Kabuki - wouldn’t suprise me if Reid, McConnell, Boner all had planned out from the start. The RINOs want this bill to pass. It’s all theatre, played along with LSM.

Maybe John has discovered that he can catch more hell from us than he can from them.

If every conservative would get more in their faces vocal we might turn this thing around.

Cut more spending out of the bill and send it back to the Senate.

"Won't Budge on DHS"

When funding ends and the shutdown begins, border states should call up their respective national guard units to handle DHS security functions, and sue the federal government for reimbursement.

Boehner been getting so much heat that he's pretending.

Don't fall for his B.S.

At the end of the day this rat will sell you out.

Then a month more or less from now. We will here the same people who believe Boehner say I can't believe he turned on us.

I'm sorry but the fact that the Republicans pretend they represent a certain philosophy and do not.... It's an outrageous and flat betrayal.

This is not the first time and has been going on for about 20 years or so. We just had an election last November and nothing seems to have changed other than party name.

He’ll ultimately cave and assume the position for his democrat masters.

ALL bills pertaining to funding MUST originate in the House, not the Senate.

Boehner needs to tell McConnell to do his job and pass the bill he received.

This business of the Senate passing a funding bill and then creating a crisis in the House to pass it is so much BS.

McConnell caved, as usual, to Harry Reid, even when Harry Reid is on the minority.

McConnell should have instituted a 51 vote threshold and framed it as helping to protect the country in the face of Dem intransigence.

He blew that simple task—he needs to step down.

Even in the face of this illegal order having the potential to give the Dems unlimited wins for the next 50 years, the GOP still can’t get off its @ss to protect itself, let alone the country.

McConnell doesn’t have to run for election again for 6 years so he figures he can cave and everyone will forget about it by then. Boehner has to run again in two years and he can read the last election result writing on the wall. His job is at stake. McConnell is a worm and I don’t like or trust that weasel at all.
