The US Marine Corps dates its founding to November 10, 1775. The Muslims were not the problem--the British were. The corps ceased to exist for a while after the end of the Revolutionary War but was revived in 1798 along with the U.S. Navy, during the Quasi-War or undeclared naval war with France.

The pre-1776 Muslim presence in the US would have been miniscule--some of the slaves imported into the colonies came from Muslim areas of Africa and may have retained their beliefs over here, but I doubt they would have passed them on to future generations. Of the "five pillars of Islam," only one would have been practical to observe (the statement of belief that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet). The public prayer five times a day, the pilgrimage to Mecca, the observance of fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan, and the giving of alms--those would have been impractical. How would they have kept track of when Ramadan was, or labored all day with no food?
