If only Jesus had known that, he could have supplied doobies and hashish at the wedding.

I knew this 45 years ago

Not necessarily GOOD for you ... but safer

Be careful of the words THEY use.

Yeah but it creates a lot of money for law enforcement and others that are still running with the “facts” from the movie Reefer Madness.

Safer? Sure. Especially alcohol.

Alcohol is MUCH more flammable than marijuana.

I’ve read if a child or a teenager does too much smoking, they could reduce their IQ PERMANENTLY!! That, plus the law (and my parents) was enough to keep me away from it back in the old days of High School 1970s. Some say there are medicinal benefits for cancer patients. Those who have gone through the rigors of chemotherapy, say it helps to stimulate the appetite and relax them. So there may be therapeutic uses for this, but I’d be very careful giving it to children without doing mucho research first!

Tobacco and Alcohol worse than meth? Really? Anything worse than heroin? Really?

I don't have a problem with someone smoking a joint if they aren't driving or aren't on (my) company time. That all said, this survey won't be taken seriously with where meth was placed.

Alcohol is deadlier then heroin?

I’m surprised they didn’t say that alcohol is worse than bath salts.

In other news, living in a padded cell is much safer than driving to work daily.

It is NOT the proper role of government, to order, regulate and legislate every aspect of our lives.

In my nearly 67 years, I have seen many, many lives lost early, ruined by drink.

I have seen few so severely impacted by pot. (Other drugs are another matter-meth, narcotics, etc.)

Prohibition of both alcohol and pot have been failures, however. Knowledge and recover resources are better.

I’m over 21 years clean and sober, from my alcohol problem.

Marijuana is much safer than alcohol or tobacco, according to a new study

One need only interact with a chronic pot head to see that this "study" is flawed. Tell Cheech and Chong that not everyone is swallowing this BS.

Interesting factual rebuttal to the insinuation cannabis is now more dangerous because “it’s stronger than it was fifty years ago.”

“Marijuana is roughly 114 times less deadly than alcohol”

I’m just wondering what a “time” is in this context. How did they arrive at a “time”? What constitutes a “time”?

Falling into a lake full of piranhas is safer than falling into a sea of hungry sharks or falling off a 500 ft ledge onto a solid rock surface. Its still not a good idea to do it.

Depends how you define “safe”. Marijuana is not deadly in and of itself, true. It is mind altering, however, even in small quantities. Alcohol, if abused, is much worse, but is only mind altering in large quantities. Tobacco is not a mind altering substance and is completely harmless in the short-term, but is probably worse for your overall health than marijuana in the long run if abused. That said, if I had a choice for my child tonight to smoke a cigarette, drink a beer, or smoke a joint, the joint would be last on the list.

The greatest fear the Democrats have is that there will be too many people on this planet. Smoking marijuana reduces the sex drive. The Democrats love marijuana.

I remember a “stoner” I knew in college. He couldn’t figure out which shoelace to tie 1st. This was in the morning before he started toking. Always had Dorito breath.

The researchers determined the mortality risk by comparing a lethal dose of each substance with the amount typically used.

All this means is that the dangers of dying from an overdose from a single usage event is less than with the other drugs tested.

That is not the same thing as being safer for regular use. Of course, it also does not mean that it is NOT safer.

It looks to me like the media "spin" on the results of this study might be more dangerous than any of the drugs used in the research.

We are probably all better off avoiding, stimulants, mood-altering drugs, depressants and hallucinants of all description including alcohol, marijuana, nicotine and even caffeine. Some small, minor benefits might be found in those compounds but it is likely true that completely avoiding them altogether would be the best approach for all of us.

That said, I don’t grant anyone the standing to decide for me what I can put in my own body. I can’t understand anyone who would.
