Its an interesting play but its laughable to think that they could get anywhere near a carrier on open water. Somebody needs to inform them that the Phalanx gun actually can hit waterborne targets.

Sorry. Naval units are vulnerable, just not to these particular Worthy Oriental Gentlemen. But the CHICOM and the Russkis have large numbers of quite effective stand-off anti-ship missiles, including nukes. IMNVHO, we can expect them to try and overwhelm a carrier's defenses.

In the event of hostilities, we will lose important units. They will lose everything. BTW, the Phalanx is an effective close-in weapon of last resort, but if 5 or 6 missiles are coming in from different headings ..... who knows?

Remember the COMBLOC maxim: "Quantity has a Quality all its own!" I know we take this seriously. I just hope Pentagon planners, with their 25 available F-22s, take it the same way.
