>>the Constitution is pretty clear on what our rights are.<<

I understand. I believe you are a patriotic American fighting for our rights and I honor you for that. Listen, we are on the same side. I am a Texan and no where else in this nation is the 2nd amendment so important.

As a native Texan, I want to see our constitutional rights restored/protected. This nation is under assault. We are losing our rights, freedoms daily. You are right to step up to this fight. Not trying to demean, marginalize or throw cold water.

Our legislature has about 90 days left in session to get business done. If an open carry bill is out there and likely to pass, by muddying the waters and sending everything back into committee, there is a good chance, I mean a real good chance the constitutional carry effort could squash the open carry bill that is likely to sail through. This is my main concern.

We've gone on and on. I wish y'all luck. I for one am throwing my support behind the most likely passage.

Would you be happy with permitted open carry if constitutional carry effort looks bleak? Will you throw your support behind the permitted open carry?

The permit process is clearly unconstitutional.

I will fight for Constitutional Carry only.

You are throwing cold water, because 90 days is plenty of time to raise support for Constitutional Carry.

You have chosen to give up before the fight is truly engaged.

That is reality. Not your fake reality of giving up before the fight is joined, like so many republicans.

Do what you want. If you are fighting for an unconstitutional process, I don't support you or what you do.

For me, the problem with your attitude is, you give up before trying. We may not get constitutional carry now but we will still try to get it.

I've worked with the state Republican party regarding getting bills passed in the legislature. While trying to get picture ID passed for voting, we brought it up every time the legislature met, every two years. It took several legislative sessions, to finally get it passed. If we had not TRIED to get it passed every time, we would have never gotten it.

Constitutional carry is the same. There needs to be a bill for it in every legislature session until it passes, and that includes this year.

My deceased husband and I, wrote a bill to guarantee fair counting of ballots in every county in Texas the night of any federal election. Before we wrote that bill, the person in charge of central counting (either the county clerk or election officer), could keep the other party out of central counting. If that person was a Democrat, he/she could keep Republicans out of central counting and that was happening in numerous counties. The same could happen if that person was a Republican - could keep Democrats out of central counting on election night. I never knew of any Republican county clerk or election officer, doing that.

Once we wrote the bill, we sent it to our State Senator. He carried the bill for us and it passed the State House and State Senate without a word changed and without a dissenting vote - it became law then and still is and will always be. I don't think the Democrats read that bill or they would have voted against it as it stopped Democrats from keeping Republicans out of central counting.

So when you vote in Texas, your ballot, at the end of election day in your county, is counted with all the others, at central counting following the law we wrote.

I know how bills get passed through our legislature because I've done it with the bill we wrote and seen it done with others such as Picture ID for voting when it took us years to get it done, filing the bill every time.

If you don't buy a Texas raffle ticket, you surely won't win. If you don't file a bill in the legislature, you surely won't get it passed into law.
