U.S. conservatives urge Boehner to hold firm on immigration

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Conservative Republicans urged House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner not to capitulate in a fight with Democrats over President Barack Obama's immigration policy that threatens a partial Homeland Security shutdown later this week.

The conservative lawmakers, led by Representative Jeff Duncan, circulated a letter to Boehner and other House leaders telling them to hold the line in opposing Obama's executive actions shielding millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation, a Duncan aide said on Tuesday.

"Now is the time to stand firm against these unlawful executive actions," said the letter, signed by about 20 conservative Republicans so far.

So let me throw this out. I think the GOP should pass a ‘payroll bill’ for DHS every two weeks. Everybody gets paid, (FEMA, Airline security, Coast Guard) but nobody can work on special projects that haven’t been authorized. And if they do ... The House files charges against them for unauthorized expenditures.

Bottom line, for the job this bureaucrat laden Homeland security outfit is doing; it’s obvious we could do without them. For one thing they are not controlling the borders and who needs so many third world types searching so many old ladies at major airports? An independent CIA, FBI and local law enforcement could do a better job while spending a lot less money.
