Black conservatives seek to draft Condoleezza Rice for Senate race

The Black Conservatives Fund wants to draft former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for a Senate bid in 2016, as they argue she represents the GOP’s best chance to win a Senate seat in deep-blue California.

The group sent out a fundraising email to supporters Tuesday morning asking for donations to encourage the former diplomat, who now teaches at Stanford University, to run for the open seat.

Rice has repeatedly said she won’t run, but the latest Field Poll on the race showed she’d be a formidable candidate if she changes her mind. It found her with 49 percent of the vote, compared to 46 percent for Attorney General Kamala Harris, the Democrat now seen as the race’s front-runner.

“Condi is a true American success story. Her father was a minister. She’s an accomplished pianist, diplomat, and a role model for millions,” the Black Conservatives Fund says in its fundraising email.

“But the best news of all is that if she runs, she can steal California’s U.S. Senate seat from the Democrats.

Well Cali is a total lost cause.
Reagan couldn’t win California today. 2012 Obama was +23.
Just look at the POTUS and Senate trends over the last two decades.
With the new “jungle” primary system, a bunch of November races are now actually between two Democrats. That’s how Sandy Fluke got to the November election.

I think her opinion on abortion is Pro-choice in the early stages of pregnancy, but she doesn’t brag about it.

A baby killer who doesn't "brag" about it and supports gay marriage, too.

She's like an Obama-mini-me.

Sorry, not happy about it either, but I like her and if in California I’d vote for her. Sarah Palin should run for Senate also.

Rice is about the best we conservatives can hope for in this state.

Imagine, California was a swing state until the late eighties.

Immigration - legal and illegal - turned it deep blue, and unfettered immigration will do the same to the nation in very short order.

You got that right. Anytime I see blacks separate themselves
into their own little groups I don’t see conservative at all.

A friend of mine works for Condi and this friend is very much a lefty.

She has informed us over the years, Condi has no interest in running for anything, ever...

Just Say NO!

WE need to dump the baggage of California politics gone by.. Leave her be.

Where is the young life blood of the future party of hope?

Probably packing their trailers and vans in the Northeast preparing to move West is my bet.

Unfortunately. Conservatives haven’t the breeding rates of liberals or the ability to move as readily as most.

Exactly. A Sen. Collins of the West is all we can hope for with California—and I’ll happily take that.

If they want Rice in the senate or any other government position they aren’t conservatives.

They are just another group of blacks who place loyalty to skin color above all else.
