Right, but the ‘politicians’ were driving the agenda.
No one in the MSM would have carried the anti-war campaign as far or as hysterically as they did, if the political will was there to support the military and get it done.
Politicians made sure that the political will was completely misrepresented and corrupted IF it was expressed at all....it WASN'T!
Yes the MSM was GREATLY to blame as well.

I came back to the world in 70 through SFO and Treasure Island; believe me I remember the greeting I received at the airport. I was called every thing but a child of god; baby killer, murderer, Fascist, you name the invective and they had it.
The politicians set the tone, the media hyped it, and the civilians swallowed it hook line and sinker.
