The Navy SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden says there is a welcome mat out for women SEALs if they can meet the grueling physical and mental standards that exist today.
Former Chief Petty Officer Robert ONeill, whose handpicked SEAL Team Six unit raided bin Ladens compound in Pakistan, answered absolutely when asked whether women can meet the demands of sea, undersea, ground and airborne warriors.
Asked by The Washington Times how he knows, Mr. ONeill said, Ive met women that I think can beat me up. Im not joking. Here in the states. There are some tough women out there.
The Pentagon in 2013 lifted the ban on women serving in direct land combat units, such as infantry, armor and special operations.
U.S. commands have been validating physical standards for their units, among them the SEALs. If naval special warfare wants to keep the SEALs all-male, it must make that case to Pentagon civilian leaders.
Both the Army and Marine Corps have been conducting combat training experiments with women. The SEALs to date have not.

SEAL Babes PING!
Nice he shows he has his mind right
Sorry .. I’m against this.
“combat training experiences with women”
I have been engaged in such an experience with a woman for almost thirty years.
And they’ll be fine soldiers three weeks out of the month and those days they’re not reading romance novels...
LOL!
Winnuh!!
I think his comments are really strange.
I don’t think he really believes what he is saying but I have no idea why he is saying it.
Give us their names, we want to look at them.
This story makes me uncomfortable in all kinds of ways:
1. What kind of a SEAL would be such an attention whore?
2. Regardless of how tough they are, women cannot carry the same load as men, reducing combat readiness.
3. I thought the Washington Times was the conservative-type answer to the WPost; maybe not.
This should not happen. Anyone who thinks women can legitimately meet the standards is smoking something strong.
But of course there is a narrative that needs advancing, so they'll pass women through even when they can't come close to meeting the standards that men are expected to pass.
Donut Dollies.
Is there going to be a calendar? ... :-) ...
To go from marital to martial, all one has to do is shift the “Ï”.
Here you go. ;)
Do these modern day SEALS ever shut up?
That’s what I’m afraid of.
You said, “I thought the Washington Times was the conservative-type answer to the WPost; maybe not.”
Ummmm ... what you’re describing (as to what you want) is a PAC (Political Action Committee) and not a newspaper ... LOL ...
The Washington Times is a newspaper which reports on various kinds of events or people ... but not trying to push an ideology, and pretending that it’s news.
One of the big complaints that some of us have is that there are news agencies which act as “PACs” and not news reporting organizations. The fact that there are those news agencies that do this is not a cue for us to create news agencies which act as “PACs” for us ... :-) ...
IMHO same as with paramedic, firefighter, etc: if they can meet the physical criteria of the job then no problem, but the criteria should not be modified for anyone as long as the criteria are meaningfully related to the actual job.
