The Crusades were wars fought for the liberation of Christians. Your problem is that you have bought into the liberal historical narrative that forgets about the extent of the Muslim threat to the very existence of Christian Europe. You may have heard of Charles Martel but doubt you remember Don Juan of Austria, or Princ Eugene of Austria.

Muhammad was a totally self-seeking megalomaniac who was the antithesis of Christ. He used his self-serving revelations, supposedly from Allah, for personal gain, and to satisfy his own base nature. He was personally guilty of murder, including by beheading, crucifixion, pouring boiling water or molten pitch down the throat, boiling his victims in water and ripping off their flesh. Other crimes were rape, torture, kidnappings, extortion, slavery, mutilations, banditry, theft, adultery, abuse of women— physically and sexually—and sexual abuse of at least one child. He left behind the blueprint of Islam, a dysfunctional society bent on world domination by whatever means necessary.

I think I got that from a video of a muslim who converted to Christianity. He said he was intrigued by Jesus. Of course the Koran only mentions Jesus but does not talk about. him the way both the New and Old Testament describe Him through various prophecies.
