Does anyone here have a tankless they can comment on?

I’ve heard they are expensive, most places don’t carry parts and the heat isn’t of the quality of a traditional tank heater.

Can they really handle a household of five with laundry, dishes, showers, etc?

tankless = prohibitively expense.

I went tankless- $300 tax credit and $200 gas company incentive. On the other side of the equation, new code require a 5 gallon overflow pressure reserve tank for storage tanks. This will add $500 to the cost of tan installation.

But the best part, six people in a house never running out of hot water!! Priceless

TITAN SCR2 N120 Electric Tankless.

$200.00 buy two since they have a habit of breaking after a few years of use.

“tankless = prohibitively expense.”

Yes, they are expensive. But they have an unusually long lifespan. We’ve had one in our primary residence since 2002 and it hasn’t missed a beat. In that timeframe, we’ve had to replace the tank type heater in our second home twice, so the cost evens out eventually. Actually, the bigger expense is getting enough gas supply so that they operate properly and having to vent them with pressure-tight flues. We actually had our public utility come by to check our gas meter and when the tech found out we had a tankless, he put in a larger meter at no charge. I actually haven’t seen any difference in performance but I guess if other gas-consuming appliances ( i.e clothes dryer and furnaces) were on at the same time it might make a difference.

tankless = prohibitively expense.

Also means long wait for hot water and not very hot at that.
