AP-GfK Poll: Most back Obama plan to raise investment taxes
AP ^ | February 22, 2015 | STEPHEN OHLEMACHER and EMILY SWANSON

The rich aren't taxed enough and the middle class is taxed too much. As for your taxes, you probably think they're too high as well.

Those are the results of an Associated Press-GfK poll that found that most people in the United States support President Barack Obama's proposal to raise investment taxes on high-income families.

The findings echo the populist messages of two liberal senators — Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders of Vermont — being courted by the progressive wing of the Democratic Party to run for president in 2016. The results also add weight to Obama's new push to raise taxes on the rich and use some of the revenue to lower taxes on the middle class.

Leave taxation the same. But bring back US jobs.

There must be something pushing jobs out. I wonder if we could do something to pull them back in?

Besides just saying it?

That is a good question.

Ignoring for a moment our diametrical opposite sides on most issues of trade, I believe that is a genuine issue.

How can we reverse the exit of American jobs, many of which go to China.

This is an open question, to anyone. How can the GOP bring back American jobs?

Let’s go back to tariffs and sales taxes and ditch the income tax altogether.

It is hard to conceive of a scenario where someone earning $300,000 per year pays less taxes than someone earning $50,000.

It's probably related to that liar, Warren Buffett, and his lie about his secretary.

How can the GOP bring back American jobs?

What do you suggest? Besides saying it?

What rates do you suggest?

NRST of 15% should do it, combined with current payroll taxes and import tariffs.

Of course... every one wants to tax the rich - but they also want the government to stay away from taxing them.

I believe the GOP needs to strongly become for American jobs.

This will mean, America needs to defend jobs here in the states.

We need to structure America, so that we charge taxes on imports, and (do not) charge taxes on stuff made in America. Or at very least, we should charge less than we charge on imported goods.

America really needs to bring back American jobs. We are heading 100% in the opposite direction right now, and BOTH PARTIES ARE ON BOARD. That is what I find puzzling, and what really bothers me about our current trade situation.

Sending ever more production, to the Peoples Republic of China, and to other countries.

So I would say import tariffs.

Big time.

I have a better idea. Abolish capital gains tax and taxes on interest and dividends.

The media want this narrative, that way they don’t have to acknowledge the more taken out of the private sector the smaller it gets, Obama gets no blame. He has no interest in economic improvement, just his ‘economic justice’.

When did Communism become populist?

So I would say import tariffs.

What rate? Is that your only change? Additional taxes?

That is my idea. Now it is your turn.

How do you suggest we improve things?

Stealing other people’s money is ok with most today. Take away morals and people prey on others.

This is why I usually do not respond to you.

Your turn.

Either put up, or shut up...

This is why I usually do not respond to you.

Because I ask for your suggestions, and you provide none.

Saying tariffs without mentioning the rate isn't a real suggestion.

Is that your only change? Higher taxes? Or do you wish to lower some as well?

Here is the basis for my proposal (quoting from my original post):

We need to structure America, so that we charge taxes on imports, and (do not) charge taxes on stuff made in America. Or at very least, we should charge less than we charge on imported goods.

Make of it, what you will. You still have not responded with your own idea.

I am still waiting...
