In what may have been a mild foreshock to a coming shaker, the topic of a fracking ban was injected into a Santa Clara County committee meeting last week.

A proposal to bring the subject to the board of supervisors was put forth by the county's Advisory Commission on Consumer Affairs and sent to the Public Safety Committee for action, which detoured it to the Housing, Land Use, Environment and Transportation Committee, where officials said it belongs.

Its too late for the communists to ban fracing in California. At $50/bbl, thanks to supply dumping by the low costs OPEC producer Saudi Arabia, fracing is now uneconomic in any oil play in the US. And the “Monterrey Shale” play is no shale play, it is a fractured chert, does not work with shale frac techniques anyway.

Maybe they should just make an anti-fracing movie, and place the $50/bbl order with Saudi. When the frac business is killed off, oil will be back to $100, and California can buy $100 oil from Saudi, like the good old days.../s/

I don’t think fracking is the cause of earthquakes but why chance it in California when there are so many better places to do this? Let them drive their tiny cars and pay $4/gal gas. We’ll just laugh our asses off at their stupidity just like we already do.

“fracing is now uneconomic in any oil play in the US. “

Every well completed this year will be fraced. Once the well is drilled you frac the zone to produce from. Even at 50 dollars a barrel many of us can still drill, frac and produce a profit. The horizontals in this area are still drilling and doing 30 stage frac’s, as soon as they’re done they move to the next one. Vertical rigs are the ones seeing the slow down.

Drill down to the fault zone and hit it with about 3,000 barrels of Super Glue, that will fix it.

Funny how the Left talks about scientific illiteracy when it comes to their Religion of Global Warming, yet they demonstrate such illiteracy in Spades when it comes to Real Facts.

ALL WELLS ARE FRACKED 100% of the Time upon completion.

Fracking might be a twofer:
1) develope resources (oil & nat’l gas)
2) relieve stress along faults.
(I’d rather have a bunch of 3’s than another 6.9 in my backyard.)

See #4, above. Maybe you and "orangehoof" should get together and compare notes.

All the EnvironMental Negativity Nazis cause is higher prices and costs for EVERYTHANG!!!

They and the "Entitlement Mob" remind me of the beautiful Heritage Oaks around here and in all CA's "Oak Woodlands" rife with parasitic Mistletoe that eventually sucks the livelihood out of 'em and kills 'em!!!

They are so filled with false self-righteous certitude that it makes normal people that respect most people that built our better traditions and culture just plain sick!!!

If only the uninformed populace had any inkling of what you just stated... if only... but the Drive-By MSM just are interested in false "truth" when it destroys our productive and economically viable industrial operations!!!

Like the Commander In Theif, they're determined to "transform America" and bring her down to the lowest common denominator of the third world's nations to share their equality of misery!!!

I've had similar thoughts, along with the idea that one might be able to trigger the quake with an explosive device in order to make the timing of the event predictable. That would allow lots of preparation for the event that could greatly reduce property damage and loss of life.

Unfortunately, with as much built up stress as we have, no matter what we do it is likely to be a whopper.

False.

Hydraulic Fracturing has been done since the 1940s. It did not suddenly become more expensive after decades of us. It has been applied in more recent years with advances in technology to plays that before could not be made economic. Some of THOSE area, will have to wait until significant drilling and production is added to them again.
