Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? (Psalms 94:16)
The Islamic State (ISIS) is not the only one recruiting supporters worldwide. A Christian militia group is fighting back with outsiders of its own.
Dwekh Nawsha, a Christian militia whose name is an Assyrian-language phrase conveying self-sacrifice, is standing up to ISIS as the terror group tries to stamp out Christianity in Iraq and Syria. The group is accepting foreign recruits, as are other groups in the area, AFP reported.
Brett (not his real name) is one of those foreigners. He told AFP, One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter, but here were actually fighting for the freedom of the people here to be able live peaceably, to be able to live without persecution, to keep the church bells ringing.
Brett, 28, served in the US army in Baghdad in 2006-2007 and has now returned to fight ISIS on behalf of the local Christian population, forced to flee to nearby Kurdistan as ISIS advanced towards al-Qosh. The Islamic State onslaught has put the continued existence one of the worlds oldest Christian populations into question.
Brett explained he wants to establish a foreign fighters battalion, and has already brought in five volunteers from the US, Britain and Canada, all with military or contracting experience. He claims he has another 20 volunteers lined up.
Recruits have a number of reasons for stepping forward. Louis Park is the first person Brett brought in. Having retired from the US Marine Corp in December, Park, from Texas, says, I did not adjust well at peace time. I wanted to get back out here.
He began saving money to join the battle even before his retirement. Im patriotic as hell, he says. If my government wont fight them I will.
Another volunteer, Andrew, from Canada, was motivated by rumors he heard of slaughterhouses where ISIS allegedly removes victims organs for sale on the black market. Though no evidence exists for such activities, the story is being circulated among evangelical organizations, especially in North America.
A video released Sunday, showing ISIS beheading 21 Coptic Christians in Libya, has also sparked renewed outrage and calls for Western action.
Freedom-fighting isnt for everyone, though. A number of Westerners who initially joined the Syria-based Kurdish Popular Protection Units (YPG) have since left, disillusioned. Some, like US army veteran Scott, object to YPGs socialist leanings. Jordan Matson, however, a former American soldier currently fighting with YPG, has a different conclusion. He believes the intensity of the fighting in the region is too much for some people.
Most of the Internet cowboys have come to realize this isnt a normal deployment, he told AFP. So they lose the stomach to come or stay.

Ohhhh so theeeese are the guys 0 refers to as the United States greatest enemy? The guys that are patriots that are going to fight ISIS to save our nation. Well hell no wonder he’s pissed...
I keep trying to find a way to check out YPG in some besides Facebook, to no avail.
I’d like to send them some money before the mocha mullah declares them a terrorist organization.
The US State Dept will label this group as a Terrorist Organization. Only because they aren’t Muslim
The reality on the ground is that Christian fighters are truly on their own. Almost no logistical support, no intelligence support, inexperienced and incompetent allies.
The last time skilled American fighters involved themselves was in Bosnia. They soon realized that most on the battlefield are not up for serious fighting, which is why both tend to commit war crimes.
That’s the downside. The upside comes with having financial backing from someone who can keep the supplies you need flowing. If you plan ahead, you really dominate the battlefield, worth a hundred or five hundred of the enemy.
And if you get a large enough group of your kind mustered, even a companies’ worth, you become a major player.
Twitter has been abuzz for a couple of hours now with rumors that a Turkish Armored column has crossed into Syria, heading for Suleyman Shah’s tomb, that ISIS is reported to be very near.
Unconfirmed as of now, nut watch for it.
They’re going to have to start a draft if they want a fighting chance at taking on ISIS. Doesn’t look too meaningful with a handful of fighters. I think I saw a guy from the organization on Greta (??) last night. Not too impressive.
What’s wrong with the REAL FOREIGN LEGION? Send them out to take on these monsters.
“”Turkish Armored column “”
I don’t think Turkey has any interest in taking these murderers out..They haven’t shown any inclination so far to go up against them - not even to help the Kurds or the people fleeing Iraq.
Long overdue.
IMHO, real Christians would have raised money and hired mercs or cooperative governments to wipe Islam out of the areas where they are going jihaddi.
This original story eminated from INN Israel News Network where there were some pix but not as a polished presentation as the YPG referenced by #9th life recruitment pitch appearing in facebook which was posted later. That original link is

I think “brummy” is right and the Christans are on their own. The fact there is no contact info I find troubling.
