You are falling for the big government "food pyramid" narrative. The same government that caterwauls about "global warming" while the Great Lakes freeze and New England is buried under 7 feet of snow.
Olive oil is a superfood and one of the healthiest substances you can put in your body.
By the way, so are eggs, which the government has been saying for years is bad for us because they have "cholesterol." The government had housewives in a panic over this, buying "egg beaters" and making omelets with egg whites (sacrilege!). When in fact, eggs are one of nature's most perfect foods.
As well, the government had us all scared of butter and as a result, housewives were buying margarine, which is basically a stick of chemicals and laden with hydrogenated oils which are toxic to our bodies. The switch to margarine from butter had devastating consequences for our health.
There are many things the government tells us that just-are-not-true.

I am not falling for government anything. My dietary lifestyle is influenced by the books of Dr. Joel Fuhrman and "Forks Over Knives". To me, olive oil is nothing but unnecessary fat. I would eat whole olives, in moderation, of course. I don't touch eggs or butter. I plan to outlive climate change . ;p
