For those who had any questions, Rob Bell has now made himself totally clear: He is willing to trash parts of the Bible as "letters from 2,000 years ago" when God's Word contradicts his views on same-sex "marriage."
Bell appeared on Oprah's Super Soul Sunday program together with his wife Kristen to promote their new book The Zimzum of Love: A New Way of Understanding Marriage. In an interview last December, Bell explained that on page 16 of the book, he and Kristen give their "whole hearted affirmation" to same-sex "marriage."
That was no surprise in light of his announcement in 2013 that he supported redefining marriage. In fact, that had been his position for years, although he had not proclaimed it publicly prior to 2013.
But on Oprah's show, he and Kristen went much further, dismissing the words of Scripture and criticizing churches that were determined to be faithful to God.

I don’t know who he is either, but he clearly doesn’t understand scripture and wants Oprah and her dead world to love him,

Rob Bell is too busy making money from his Mars Hill Bible Church to read the Bible. What needs to be established is the fraudulent nature of “marriage equality” as they are now calling it. The Bible touches on it in ten places:
Genesis 2:18, 22, 23:
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
If God thought a man was a better mate for Adam, he would have made another man.
Genesis 19:1-9:
1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; 2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. These passages reveal the wickedness of Homosexual rape as well as the practice of homosexuality.

13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Deuteronomy 23:17-18:
17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel. 18 Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the Lord thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
Deuteronomy 22:5:
5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
Romans 1:26-27:
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural , 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
I Corinthians 6:9-11:
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
I Timothy 1:8-10:
8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.

Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
On the perversion of the family issue, we need to formulate a clear message that defends monogamous heterosexual marriage. We have a huge electorate who does not know the implications of normalizing homosexual relationships and has been dumbed down by the Hollywood media. You see them clapping on shows that promote homosexuality and same sex marriage. Most American have no clue what the battle is about. This is because “marriage equality” has been redefined as a civil rights issue on the level of racial equality. The media indoctrination for “marriage equality” has been irresponsible and non-stop as it relives the intrigue of a civil rights struggle that was played out with race. How we stop the propaganda campaign of redefinition will be a challenge.
Basically, same-sex marriage violates the natural parent-child bond in every family, and the right of the family to protection by society and the state. It discards the fundamental understanding that the family, based upon the heterosexual marriage, is the very foundation of society. Same sex-marriage will de-naturalize the family by rendering in their entirety familial relationships as ever changing expressions of law. Such a changing set of laws will crush the monogamous heterosexual marriage with instability. It will be like forcing one to drive though an intersection without traffic lights. That universal understanding for thousands of years, that the family is a small society (a sovereign state) with unique rights and responsibilities independent of the state will end. Instead, the family will become mere policy relationships, defined and imposed by arbitrary resolutions of the state. The family (this society) founded more immediately in nature—the proles (procreation or fruitfulness)—will no longer have the distinction of sexual difference, with its distinctive quality of generative power. It is the civil right of the family to continue as the natural and fundamental group unit of society. With a change in the definition of marriage, the family will have no direct connection to nature. This leaves the parent-child relation open to increasing intervention by the state. And with the possibility of the state being influenced by foreign forces, the definition of the family could be expanded to include such barbarous practices as marriage to children and polygamy.
With the definition of marriage redefined, the state with its new found power, will undermine further the sovereign nature of the family; and the sphere of the church or religious community as well—the two spheres where divine and human rights, independent of the state, are located. This will come as an all out assault on hetero-sexism, or anything that seems to privilege the male-female binary or the nuclear family. It will enable the state to indoctrinate children and deprive parents of the power to intervene. The individual—men, women and children—will be reduced to be subjects of the state with no divine rights. We must understand the serious nature of this fight. There will be no peace to be had by capitulation.
This fight must be be vigorously taken up by Christians who can boldly declare that marriage is a gift—something we receive with creation, not something we invent—and that only what is capable of being a marriage act is natural sex. I believe that this issue can be fought on the moral level as it presents itself to the sovereignty of the family. Then it can be perceived as a real human rights issue. When the real issue of human rights, as it pertains to nature’s law as ordained by God, then the real human rights case can be made. The human right of the monogamous heterosexual marriage should supersede the false case made for human equality as promoted by the “marriage equality” deceivers.

The steady state of mankind is apostasy. This is expected. It happened in the OT, when Christ walked the earth in the NT and afterward. We shouldn’t be surprised, ever. It’s a war and it’s not going to change. Luckily, we know how this book ends. We win.
The concept of tsim tsum is fascinating and few Christians explore it. As a conception it changes the view of the creation story and free will. Calvinism isn’t interested in that, but other’s might be, Arminians for instance.

Christians answer the question of how evil exists with the story of a rebellious angel, so tzimtzum would seem to be an unnecessary concept in Christianity.
It’s a gestalt perception switch. The common saying is ‘creation from nothing’, but from a Jewish perspective it’s more like ‘nothing (our world) from Something (God is the only true existence)’.
Narcissist like Bell always cloak themselves in the sugar coating of religion. Heaven’s Gate Marshall Applewhite comes to mind. For them it is the power over other people and, of course, their pocketbook.
I think Mars Hill fired him.
