As much as y’all don’t want to hear it... I’ve been “plant-based” for 2 1/2 years now, and have never felt better, or had better stats at the doctor’s office.
I’m just not an activist about it. It’s a personal choice.
And, yes, I’d eat meat in a heartbeat in a survival situation.
And yes... yes, I do miss bacon.

I agree. I am veggie by choice, not by mandate.

You eat no animal protein at all? That’s hard to believe.
My nephew just completed his nutrition training. He said that an actual “vegan” diet is a fairy tale, humans cannot get complete essential proteins just from plants.

I eat a ton of veggies and fruits, but people miss a lot of nutrients cutting out meats entirely. I think the best way is to eat as naturally as possible and keep everything in moderation. Big parts of the obesity problem are junk food and a sedentary lifestyle.

"As much as yall dont want to hear it... Ive been plant-based for 2 1/2 years now, and have never felt better, or had better stats at the doctors office." Anectdotes don't make science. We could find other people (in fact entire populations of them are known) who eat only meat and have great health.
I suspect in your case it's one of two things. One, you have a food allergy to something in animal foods that caused you to feel better after dropping them. Two, that there's actually something else you gave up or reduced as well and you are attributing the improvement to the wrong factor.
"And yes... yes, I do miss bacon."
The science tells us the bacon is good for us. Have some.

Different people have different metabolisms. Some will do better with more or less of each food category. Some feel better on veggies exclusively, some feel crummy without a generous serving of meat. If X works for you, great.
The problem is those of any culinary persuasion who guilt-trip others for not adhering to a diet they don’t like (or, as in my case, doesn’t like them - I like salads, but my medicine would be near-unmanageable if I ate it). When the plan is for government to _compel_ a particular diet, a revolt is in order.

I used Mc Dougall cookbooks until the kids hit 18 and confiscated the kitchen. But we ate meat for birthdays and holidays. I thought it worked fine. And it was very inexpensive.
