There is no reason to give any credence at all to the supposed geniuses who came up with this study-the same sort of “experts” came up with that bulls*** food pyramid that produced the obesity problem in the first place.

My ignorant, country female family members were preaching a diet of low carb, all natural and fresh food since way before I was born, and that is the way we ate-of course, it is easy to do that on the ranch/farm with your own fresh fruit and veggies and free range livestock. None of us are overweight to this day other than one or two that have succumbed to the unhealthy processed and grain-based diet.

I knew a few total vegans in college-that was popular among the airheads-and they were always running to a doc with some kind of ailment-they could not believe they were lacking basic needed nutrients found in MEAT.

I grew up with the Standard American Diet (SAD), was a scrawny kid then struggled with my weight from about age 17-22. I then decided that low-fat diet foods were wrong as God gave us real food, not low fat, and cooked that way for myself. The change in my health was crazy and despite eating what I wanted I lost 20 pounds easily. Even at 41 and after having 6 kids, I can eat red meat, butter on my veggies, drink whole milk and still wear a size 4. It is when money is tight and I start using beans for protein and less fat in our meals that my weight goes up.

Wish my mom had figured out what yours knew, it would have made my high school and college years much better!
