President Obama does not have an easy line to walk when it comes to discussing Islamist extremism.
On the one hand, the US is at war with ISIS, an Islamist extremist group, which has murdered American citizens; it has been fighting al-Qaeda ever since it murdered thousands on September 11. Americans are understandably concerned and want to hear that their commander in chief understands the threat of Islamist extremism and takes it seriously.
On the other, Obama is clearly wary of worsening the wave of Islamophobia that ISIS has inspired in the US. Unduly emphasizing the role of religion could inspire more backlash against Muslims, of whom there are 2.6 million in the US. It could also indulge ISIS's view (also endorsed by some Americans, unfortunately) that the US is at war with Islam. Obama also surely wants to push against dangerous arguments, made by both ISIS and some prominent American voices, that ISIS represents true Islam.
Balancing these goals would be extraordinarily difficult for any president. George W. Bush struggled with it throughout his administration. But Obama is faltering. He has veered so far into downplaying Islamist extremism that he appears at times to refuse to acknowledge its existence at all, or has referred to it as violent extremism. While he has correctly identified economic and political factors that give rise to extremism, he has appeared to downplay or outright deny an awkward but important fact: religion plays an important role as well.
This is backfiring. Obama's conspicuous and often awkward attempts to sidestep the role of religion in Islamist extremism end up only drawing more attention to it. By refusing difficult questions about the role of religion in violent extremism, Obama is ceding those conversations to people like Bill O'Reilly...

I’ve noticed a recent trend among lefties. They’re worried enough about Muslim extremists to the point where fewer and fewer are keeping their heads in the sand. Mohammad is coming for their whiskey and porn, and Obama’s retarded message doesn’t resonate when the media is filled with images of Muslims burning and beheading people.

They are just trying to salvage the Democratic Party for Hillary Clinton. They see the polls and they know on some issues they have to separate themselves from Obama.
Obama comes off as though he is some kind of Muslim cleric, telling us what Islam is NOT: telling us that ISIL isn’t Muslim.
Problem is, folks, none of the Muslim big cheeses claim this. If fact, can you read me the fatwa that was pronounced against Abu Bakr al-Bagdadi and his henchmen? Any peep from the Imams, Mullas and Grand Mufti that the followers of ISIL are apostate.
Heck no. Because one night a jihadi will come creeping, and start peeping to see if the imam is sleeping and then “off with his head/”
These guys know the score...and they’re humming along with it because its written in the Koran and Haddiths.
Obama should stop pretending not to be an islamic terrorist himself.

That he hasn’t been chased from the white hut and hanged for treason is incomprehensible to me. He’s not an American as you and I understand that concept. He is a muslim first, last and always.

No, because they know that, in Islam, if you call another Muslim an apostate, one of you must die. If you can make the accusation stick, the person you accused must die, but if you can’t, then you forfeit your own life.
