Telescopes measure directly, through the standard surveying technique of triangulation, the distance to stars. Within a decade, we will have direct measurements to the center of our galaxy, 30,000 light years away. What do the young Earth proponents have to say about an age of the Universe greater than 6,000 years, based on direct measurements? How does that affect the young Earth hypothesis?
Such measurements also have produced distances greater than the age of the supposed big bang.
How “old” was Adam when he first met Eve?
I understand your point, but none of us were there.
One thing I find fascinating about all this is that the dinosouars could not have lived for more than a few days in our current world. Their bone and muscle structure could not have supported their weight unless they were all neck deep in water and the flying creatures could not have flown, other than maybe some crude gliding. They were too heavy.
So we don’t know yet what was going on. We can only speculate.
Their "explanation" is that light has not/must not have traveled at a constant speed throughout history. So, determining dates of celestial bodies via the length of time it takes light to reach Earth is unreliable.
Plus, it contradicts the Bible. Which, of course, it does not.
