He couldn’t work for a person he believes is an idiot/political hack.

What? He worked for Hagel and Obama for a long time.

Seems that he had no choice in the matter.

Kirby’s departure occurs one day after someone from Fox News asked him if he thought the troops suffered morale problems because of Obama.. Kirby fumbled big time and couldn’t answer the question. I figured he’d be gone within days.

I nominate Marie Harf to take his spot.

My guess....is he will walk into the sunset.

And just maybe reappear....in a stormy night.

I take back all the bad things I’ve said about Admiral Kirby. I guess that the $hit finally got too deep for him and having to go on TV and lie continually.

Can you not “resign” your commission?

Kirby parroted what everyone else in the regime said. I don’t see a big loss here.

This is not unique to the Obama administration or even Corporate America. Bosses make the rules. Go by the rules and you keep your job. Violate them and you're out.

That given, Kirby looks like and has the reputation for being an honest guy stuck in a system where lying and misleading the public is part of the Job Description. I'm surprised he lasted this long. I just hope he speaks up and tells us what he really thinks now that is "out".

I saw the question, and the painful wiggling in an attempt to answer and I concur 100%. I believe that Kirby is a man of integrity, and decided to do something else rather than continue to lie for the muslin in chief.

Ashton Carter is no idiot. He is one of those people who make a career out of DoD and defense industries and think tanks. He has been in a variety of DoD positions and I never heard any complaint that he was a political hack. I work in DoD in the acquisition area and I would have heard if he were that kind of a guy. In spite of his desires, Obama actually made a good selection.

I never thought much of Kirby. He seems to me to back Obama to the letter. More of a political guy.

Yeah, a lady Muslim, so she can wear a full burka and we’ll never know who she is. That way we couldn’t try to read facial expressions either.

Well then we will see how long he listens to Nero on military tactics.

I envision the meetings to be like Hitler in the last two years of WWII. Barking orders and stradegy of war while the Military Commanders
Look at each other with the “how did I get into this mess” looks on their faces.

Further down in the story is this:

“The New York Times reports that the new Defense Secretary, Ashton B. Carter, asked for Kirby’s resignation. Sources close to Carter say that he has “expressed reservations about having a uniformed officer represent the Defense Department in its daily dealings with the news media,” and will likely replace him with a civilian. (No replacement has been announced yet.)”

If you are asked to resign your job, you submit your resignation. It is resigning as PAO, not resigning his commission.
