Democrats on the Federal Elections Commission have begun the process of monitoring speech and press on the internet in order to supposedly tackle the issue of too much money in politics. The claim is that powerful corporations and rich fat cats are anonymously influencing elections through support of various blogs, news sites, and video publications online.
The internet has turned the entire political dynamic in the United States on its head. People now have access to an unlimited wealth of information about every topic pertinent to policymaking. They dont have to wait for an elected official or the mainstream media to explain an issue through the lens of his or her opinion or position of political expediency. Voters can instead form their own educated opinions on issues and access relevant information without a biased middleman. This is great for our democracy, but liberals fear unfiltered information because their policies are so unpopular.
Experts and professionals in all fields can use the internet to instantly reach wide audiences without having to wait for a precious opportunity of 30 seconds on the evening news or 500 words in the city paper. Passionate bloggers and organizations can take this expert-produced content, analyze, praise or critique it, and push the combined content out even further into the reaches of cyberspace. Democrats, however, despite their claimed liberal beliefs, seem to have a problem with all this free speech and are seeking to cut it off at the source.
Democratic FEC Commissioner Ann Ravel now wants bloggers and YouTubers that are talking about politics and all things related to comply with onerous regulations and disclosure requirements. She wants individuals and organizations that post things even remotely political online to register with her federal agency, disclose their funding sources, and stamp disclaimers on all of their content...

Politicians the world over piss blood when they think of truly free speech and the unrestricted flow of ideas and information.
Thet’ll put a stop to it any way they can.
Since FR is user funded and voluntary, it will be hard for the Progressives to shut down based on financing. The “hate speech” approach would be more likely and the regulators are not having much luck there. Not that they aren’t trying.
I don’t think the GOPe sees a problem here.
That speaks volumes, does it not?
I think that’s the scariest thing I’ve ever read to have to register with her agency in order to post about her.
Then I wondered how FR would handle disclosing the funding sources.
Then I thought, why are WE so ‘scared’? won’t the Dem sites also have to do the same disclosures? Problem would be that all their supporter’s names would be mickey mouse #1, mickey mouse #2.......
This is the big fight and if we lose, it’s the end of the long march back.
Even liberals won't stand for that sort of infringement of their right to free speech. Expect for this nonsense to be shot down in flames.
Doesn’t the FCC *panel* vote on this on 2/26?
What can We the Patriots do, in the meantime, to stop this abuse of power?
Failing that, what’s the back up plan?
I pray you’re right about the liberals and DOOM for this evil.
Buuump!

Any politician would be scared $hitless that a voter could make up their own mind without hearing them blather on and with the REAL facts.
We cannot have that now.
And DON'T expect the publicans to do anything about it: they are part of the ruling oligarchy. G*d save us!
Democrats want to control everything. They want to “TELL” us what is good for us and what is not. Of course our democrats want to lead us straight into communism, that’s the plan. Hopefully, Miss Ravel will unravel, when the conservative elected tell her “No”. Freedom of Speech is one of the first things communism removes from its citizens.
