You Are Whipped Cream |
You are friendly, enthusiastic, and always up for a good time. People can count on you for happy, zany energy. You love to celebrate, and it doesn't even matter whether you're the one who has something to toast to. You are all about good times.
You may seem like all fluff to those around you, but you have learned that it's best to keep your problems mostly to yourself. You are a friend to all, but you're a little pickier about who you consider a friend to you. You need solid people in your life. |

You Are Maple Syrup |
You are dependable and even a little old fashioned. You're not one to change a good thing. You have simple tastes and enjoy simple pleasures more than most people. For you, quality always comes first.
You can be a bit of a perfectionist at times, but mostly just in your service to others. You like to do a good job. You consider yourself a normal person, and you are very dependable. You only need a few comforts to feel content. |

I also got maple syrup—which is just about the only thing I put on pancakes and waffles.

Mirror, Mirror
How often do you see your reflection in a mirror? Some studies say that the average person looks in a mirror 8 to 10 times a day. Other surveys say it could be as many as 60 to 70 times a day, if glancing at our reflection in store windows and smart phone screens is included.
Why do we look so often? Most experts agree that its to check our appearance, especially before meetings or social gatherings. If something is amiss, we want to fix it. Why look if we dont plan to change whats wrong?
The apostle James said that reading or hearing Gods Word without acting on it is like looking in a mirror and forgetting what weve seen (1:22-24). But the better alternative is to look closely and act on what we see. James said, He who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does (v.25).
If we hear Gods Word without taking action, we fool only ourselves (v.22). But when we examine ourselves in light of Gods Word and obey His instructions, God liberates us from all that keeps us from looking more and more like Him each day.
Thank You, Lord, for the Bible, Your Word to us.
Give us wisdom and guidance as we
read its pages. Make us sensitive to Your
voice and give us hearts to obey.
The Bible is a mirror that lets us see ourselves as God sees us.
: Various metaphors are used in Scripture to describe Gods Word: a mirror (James 1:23); fire and a hammer (Jer. 23:29), a lamp (Ps. 119:105), water (Eph. 5:26), a two-edged sword (Heb. 4:12), a seed (1 Peter 1:23), food (Job 23:12), and milk (1 Peter 2:2). The Word of God reveals, consumes, breaks, illuminates, purifies, convicts, regenerates, satisfies, and nourishes the believer. It is not enough to know Gods Word; we need to obey it (James 1:22-25).

SP/4 DANIEL FERNANDEZ, USA (MOH) Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry (Mechanized) 25th Infantry Division
From Today in U.S. Military History:
18 February 1966 - Cu Chi, Hau Nghia Province, RVN
Citation:
"For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Sp4c. Fernandez demonstrated indomitable courage when the patrol was ambushed by a Viet Cong rifle company and driven back by the intense enemy automatic weapons fire before it could evacuate an American soldier who had been wounded in the Viet Cong attack. Sp4c. Fernandez, a sergeant and 2 other volunteers immediately fought their way through devastating fire and exploding grenades to reach the fallen soldier. Upon reaching their fallen comrade the sergeant was struck in the knee by machine gun fire and immobilized. Sp4c. Fernandez took charge, rallied the left flank of his patrol and began to assist in the recovery of the wounded sergeant. While first aid was being administered to the wounded man, a sudden increase in the accuracy and intensity of enemy fire forced the volunteer group to take cover. As they did, an enemy grenade landed in the midst of the group, although some men did not see it. Realizing there was no time for the wounded sergeant or the other men to protect themselves from the grenade blast, Sp4c. Fernandez vaulted over the wounded sergeant and threw himself on the grenade as it exploded, saving the lives of his 4 comrades at the sacrifice of his life. Sp4c. Fernandez' profound concern for his fellow soldiers, at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty are in the highest traditions of the U.S. Army and reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of his country."

So good to see you and thank you for our beautiful lesson from God’s Word!
