Islamic State has reportedly seized al-Baghdadi, in Iraq’s Anbar Province, 5 miles from an air base staffed by U.S. Marines, as the terror group continues its push beyond its bases in Syria and Iraq in an attempt to establish militant affiliates in other countries.
Hundreds of Islamic State fighters reportedly captured most of al-Baghdadi, which is 55 miles from the capital Ramadi, on Thursday.
On Friday, Iraqi soldiers had retaken several government buildings, but the soldiers withdrew early Saturday, handing the town back to the militants, The New York Times reported, citing local security officials.
One local Iraqi official told Reuters that, "Ninety percent of al-Baghdadi district has fallen under the control of the insurgents."

There are approximately 300 United States Marines jut waiting for these ***holes to get within range. Right about now they’re arguing over the design of the tattoo they going to get when it’s over.
Positions have been prepared. Ammunition has been checked and distributed. Weapons are clean, inspected, and ready for immediate use. Range to likely approach routes are known.
Everyone knows their job. And the job of these brave young Marines is to kill.
Period.
Most people won’t understand what I’m saying, but a long time ago I had the honor and privilege of serving in the Corps. So please forgive me when I say that in my heart I’m hoping and praying that these bearded savages are stupid enough to attack in force.
My brothers will stack their corpses like cordwood. they will kill them with their bare hands if necessary.

Good to hear that they are currently well armed and supplied. I don’t worry about their being able to defeat large numbers of bearded Muslim bullies under normal circumstances, but I worry that Obama may manage to cut off their supplies.

Honestly, Obama doesn’t have the power to cut off their supplies. Everyone talks about a US military coup. That will never happen.
But if Obama says leave them to die, that order wont be obeyed,,,i mean received in time.
And if it is, it’ll be secretly ignored. Nightime airlifts will be going on and President Jarrett and the homo will never even be told.
And for those who say what about Benghazi. Benghazi was different. That was a covert CIA op, almost certainly to smuggle weapon from Turkey to the Syrian opposition. (ISIS)
Leaving them a few hours and hoping for the best is covert world treachery.
Leaving 300 Marines to be slaughtered after exhausting all supplies, and getting no air cover,,,, that’s politically impossible.
That is when the adults walk in and have a STFU and listen talk to Obama and Jerrett. And yes, there are such people with that kind of stroke.

They can easily do so, and they will utterly obliterate them in the process. ISIS has never once shown any ability to operate in a coordinated offensive manner, or in any manner of an actual military unit. That number doing their signature drive up in a Suburban spraying and praying, in daylight wont cut it against a real military. Especially against Marines in a defensive position.
I respect your feelings as a family member, but unless you were a Marine, you simply cannot understand the fighting power of 300 of them in a defensive position, being the backbone their Iraqi army students will need.
The proof of this is that ISIS will never attack the position. They have only faced the US military twice. They hit an SF perimeter close to Baghdad, and were handily repelled with very heavy casualties. Then US SOF hit them in the raid to rescue hostages that had been moved already. Again, they took very heavy casualties.
ISIS is watching the camp,,,, in fear the Marines might head their direction.
Also that base is in a flat open area, no high ground for the enemy to use, even if they had the know how.
The fields of fire are out to the max range of every weapon. There is one road leading to the base,,across open sand.
There are Apaches at the base and God only know s what else. You can be sure they aren’t giving us the full capability on that base via the news media.
That is one place on earth that ISIS cannot take by storm. Rest assured. And look carefully at ISIS. They are terror for civilians and the constabulary forces when they roll into a city, they are murderous to the helpless and unarmed.
But the fact is, they are little more than a street gang compared to the USMC, which is quite literally the most skilled and deadly infantry on earth.
Mark this prediction, though 5 miles away, ISIS will see that red and gold flag, and will never go near the place. They’ll stay in town, beheading, enjoying sex slaves, lighting people on fire, and carefully watching the Marine base for any activity.

If we do not take the fight to the bad guys, the will eventually encircle the base and then pound it with artillery and mortar fire for days and weeks on end. There will be casualties.
Thus we have several choices:
Evacuate now with few casualties.
Evacuate later with many casualties.
Let the Jihadists attack and advance and eventually kill the marines after days and weeks of artillery and mortar fire.
Then there is option number #4. Hunker down and let the bad guys think they can come in and take us. Put up minimal resistance and slowly retreat and hope the bad guys will throw all their men in to kill us. When they have the most men in the field, define certain areas as total kill zones to be effected by Specter, A10 Warthogs, and B52 carpet bombings. Fly in thousands of marines and or army grunts and let them do what they are trained to do. When the surviving enemy flees make it be known if they are in your city, town, village or tent in the desert to get the hell away from them or you will probably die when we kill the bad guys.
Interesting posts yours, DR, on this topic. I have a question. Would you expect these 300 Marines to have heavy weapons with them? After all, they were sent there as trainers, and not as an expeditionary force.
It would seem to me that having/not having heavy weapons would make the difference should the Marines be attacked by large numbers of ISIS.
And I wouldn’t put it past ISIS to attempt an assault. Even if the odds are against them, if they would be successful it would be an enormous propaganda coup.

Unfortunately the only way to achieve victory in this type of warfare is to abandon the “innocent” Iraqi concept.
Give the population of “El Baghdadi” 24 hours to blow town and then level the place, kill anything that crawls out from the rubble.
Repeat as necessary.
The refugees can go to Hell, or Saudi Arabia.
