Malls have a certain culture. You got your food court with the obligatory Orange Julius and the assortment of asian-themed fast food joints where Oriental women stand in front of offering samples (usually pork on toothpicks) to those passing by.

Spencer Gifts, a sort of X-rated shop with sex toys and graphic T-shirts.

Peddlers are often hawking stuff from kiosks down the middle of the mall. Big trend lately is that they will take your mobile device and slap a new sheet of plastic over it.

People dress weird at the mall.

I'm going to miss the obligatory Radio Shack in which employees always outnumber the customers.

Not only do malls have certain cultures, they are self contained economies. Most of the trendy clothing stores count on the employees from the other trendy clothing stores to be their best customers.
