“they banned the inexpensive chinese 7.62x39 and the 5.45 Russian 7n6”

Huh? Tula and Wolf is still available in those calibers, and I remember paying $2.99 for a box of Wolf not too long ago. Can’t get much cheeper than that.
Of course its steel and dirty.

But let’s not pull our skirts up over our heads, ladies, and faint dead away.

I must be behind or using weapons outdated. All of mine are .306,.308, .30 Carbine, or 30-40 Krag.

------------------------------------------------------

Don't confuse fad with fashion. 30-06/.308 beats a .223 any day of the week.

“And are we now going to write our congress representatives this time, like most didn’t last time?”

Like you actually think that will do anything? If the ATF was going to go bye bye, it would have happened after far worse shenanigans in their colorful past. Not trying to be fatalistic and give up, but I hardly think members of the uniparty give a rats behind on a couple flavors of ammo. The Antigunners are far too clever now than to attempt wide reaching bans. It will be incremental bans such as this one, and it works.

Get a good 7.62X.39 upper and ASC stainless magazines for it, and you get AR accuracy with another common round.

My fav is surplus 7n6 for the AK-74.

I can still get it, while existing supplies in the US last. And it is under 19 cents a round in tins of 1080. Now illegal to import, you still cannot beat that price, while supplies last.

Just an observation from my local Wally World.
This past Friday evening I was in the local WM, and walked past the ammo dept. (Looking for .22LR). There were cases, yes cases of 62 gr green tip to be had. FAst forward to tonight. It’s gone all of it. Talking to a gentleman next to me noticed the same thing.
His words were “Damned ATF dirty rotten government punks” .
I couldn’t agree with him more.
There were still tons of 55 gr 193’s, Tula, IWI and others.
Fortunately. I roll my own. For about half price of store bought ammo.

Ol' Backwoods' response: M855 Ammo: Arbitrary Bans are the very Definition of Tyranny

Not as cogent as usual, but these people make me nail-spitting mad.

No, because it does no good, just like last time.

So, I take it you're not bothered by this? I mean hey, they didn't ban my .308 or 30-06, so what should I care. Fudd attitudes like that will bring us all down.

You mistook my statement. Ballistically I'd rather have a 30 cal.

I'm extremely bothered by this. That's why I just ordered one thousand M855/SS109 bullets from Wideners over the weekend. I don't even own a .223, but am now looking into it.
