I’m not confident that a constitutional convention (CC) would bode us well given the rampant ignorance of our current electorate.

For me this falls under: beware the law of unintended consequences, and be careful what you ask for.

And if I might might be forgiven for mixing metaphors, I don’t trust our current crop of rinos to NOT sell the farm - for a bowl of porridge.

Truthfully, there has not yet been enough real pain to knock some sense into our citizens. After that? maybe a CC would be in order.

My two cents...

It would be suicide. It would be as dramatic a change as the change to Germany after the Reischtag fire.

"I’m not confident that a constitutional convention (CC) would bode us well"

It's amazing that you've missed the dozens of other threads here where your objections have already been answered!

" the rampant ignorance of our current electorate"

The electorate does not get a vote on this.

"current crop of rinos"

The current crop of rinos does not get a vote on this, either. That's the whole point. This bypasses the current crop of rinos.

"a CC "

This is not a "CC" (or con-con or a constitutional convention). This will be an Article V Convention of the States to propose amendments.

I agree. Once they open to a constitutional convention, they can change anything in the Constitution they want.

How about they just hold all accountable to the Constitution.

Working together, state legislators and American citizens can restore the checks and balances on federal power that were put in place by our founding fathers to protect our liberty from the abuses in Washington DC.

A good two cents. Might I suggest a proof of comment CoS called for the purpose of repeal of the 17th amendment? I believe we could coalesce around that and work out the kinks in calling a convention and make our citizens more familiar and at ease with the process. As you are well aware repeal of the 17th will restore a powerful state voice to the federal government by restoring the original constitution requires in this area. I don’t see how anyone could oppose this approach.

You can BET they will add an amendment to do with climate change, and the pubs will go along with it.

Read Mark Levin’s book, The Liberty Amendments.

Therein, he destroys all of your objections to a Convention of the States.

Jonno, NO ONE is talking about a Constitutional Convention.

PLEASE try to get this and keep it in mind. Thsi is a convention, run by the States, for the purpose of proposing amendments to our existing Constitution, in accordance with the explicit provisions of Article V.

That’s ALL it si It is NOT a Constitutional Convention. Repeat NOT.
