WASHINGTON (AP) It wasn't supposed to be like this for Republicans. A month into their control of both chambers of Congress, they are confronting the very real possibility of a shutdown of the Homeland Security Department later this month.
Instead of advancing a conservative agenda and showing voters they can govern, the GOP has been unable to overcome Senate Democrats' stalling tactics in a dispute over immigration.
"I suppose elections have consequences except in the United States Senate," complained GOP Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina, summing up the frustration for many House Republicans. "Tell me how it would be different if Harry Reid were still running the place," he added, naming the Senate Democratic leader who was booted into the minority in November's midterm elections.
Although their party is now setting the floor schedule and calling hearings, Republicans are finding to their chagrin that important things haven't changed from when they were in the Senate minority...

“Majority”????
“CONTROL”?!?!
Ya shure had me fooled.
After receiving a major ration of crap, I said to my battery commander, "ok, I got the message loud and clear. I'll fix my mistakes, now let me run my platoon the way I see fit."
From that day forth, I could be a major PITA to my superiors. Those who valued initiative and independence, were my biggest supporters, all the way up to Group Commander. Others not ascribing to that mantra, let's just say I had to learn to adapt.
I now work at a government agency where initiative is not valued. I've got 15 months to retirement, so I'll keep plugging along.
Wow, couldn’t have seen this coming. Reid will shutdown the Senate regardless of his status as Majority Leader or Minority Leader. Ole Mitch sure does make a nice Charlie Brown to Harry’s Lucy.
Somehow, Mitch fooled himself into believing that there were “moderate” democrats because they were all too happy to vote with the GOP in the last congress when they knew that what they were voting for was going nowhere. Mitch believed that these moderates would buck ole Harry and cooperate now that the Republicans were in charge. Filibuster?!?!! Come on, the demos would never do that, the “moderates” would defect even if they tried.
Bill after bill will be going to the Presiddent’s desk now that we are in charge. Hmmm, there goes that football.
Pssst Mitch, it’s a coup d’état moron. They see their jobs as covering for the One so he can finish off his work. Elections?!?! Those are so yesterday. Voter fraud, war on women or some such media pushed meme, the IRS, FEC, FCC, the Justicr Department, these are the tools in the left’s bag to rig elections. And when those fail and the electorate does’t go your way, declare victory anyway it delegitimize the election (you know, everyone that would have voted for us, stayed home so it doesn’t count). Now the One can can continue on his way toward further obviating the Constitution. The next trick, just replace the electorate that doesn’t vote for you with one that will. Amnesty, social security numbers, EIC and registration to vote democrat.
Game over Mitch. What are you gonna do about it? You could kill the filibuster like ole Harry did. Nah, just wait till the next election (the things that don’t matter anymore) Jeb the “front runner” will save us from all these random acts of love.
Gutless Republicans face limits of their own cowardice.
Kill the fillibuster and you do not need any Democrats.
Reid was not afraid to kill it when his and the black’s President needed it.
Well, the American Citizens need it now.
The Stupid Party put themselves in this position. They deserve it. We The People don’t.
I was told by a corporate exec who was a friend of mine....never ask permission, ask forgiveness if it goes badly.
You got that right. DHS was never ever supposed to be the monster it has morphed into. I’d like to see it shut down permanently. The worst agency ever created. And the most dangerous. Its the Civilian National Defense Force that Obama wanted.
The day BO issued his decree on immigration is the day the house should have began impeachment proceedings. To hell with what the press would do.
