There were punk and New Wave sounds that would have been relegated to little FM stations at the far end of the dial, had not MTV brought them to a wider audience. The composting of popular music during the Seventies was now replaced by an interest in getting back to basics. This is one of the most important songs of the decade, and the video is a classic.
